Gerrards form for england?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i do worry though how Gerrard has gone downhill rather than peaking

he was a better player in the houllier 5 cups season, if you watch the video from that season he had more of a complete game than he does now and a tad more pace....which made the diffrence

these days hes like rocky balboa vs clubber lang (the first time) a player who relies on grit and determination without great technique up against more hungry players and he is being found out to some extent

he really needs a reality check

i cant f*cking believe what people have been saying. Stevie, crouchy and wright phillips were the only people trying in the fecking game. and did lampard touch the ball in the fist half? he was the one in the shiny white kit that hadnt been used!!!!

effing pundits and idiots. just because stevie had the bottle to come out after the game and say something...

really f*cked off about that.

and...
it was only in the 2nd half, when lamps started going forwards that stevie started to suffer. fat f*cking lamps waste of :censored: space ffs...

Effectiveness is more important than distance covered which is the whole point, Fat Frank and Gerrard covered the turf but didnt make anything of it. Rushie was economical around pitch (posh expression for a lazy b..) but when he was on the ball he was the most dangerous man in the league.

Can someone give a reasonable explanation why England don't play at a high tempo? Every Premiership team does, yet we slow it down at intenational level and play a game suited to the opponents.

the other reason is that most teams in the Prem are so inept at keeping the ball. So it goes from one side to the other more times than on the continent, causing more back and forth attacks and counterattacks.
It becomes fast-paced and exciting, but in Europe they're laughing at our national team. They just soak it up and hit us when they're ready.

They can get Mourinho in, and I hope they do. But we're years away from winning anything.

It's painful that the peolpe at the top seem to b the last people to realise that steven gerrard DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH FANNY LAMPARD. They do not work together they are the same player except steven is yard better. I agree that he should either be played on the right if they want fanny in so much or put him in the centre with, and this is just a random thought, a bloody DMF. How about that? When gerrard played with barry as the holding man England looked a lot better. Its just a case of too many cooks when you play gerrard and fanny.

I think his england form has been hampered by not playing hom in a position that would suit him. The same went for Jamie they did not understand that the best CB in England should not be monkeying about on the right side of defence. England suffered yesterday cos of inexperienced CBs when will people learn?

It comes down to technical ability. A large majority of English players do not possses the technical ability to compete with the Spains, Italys and Argentinas of this world. Its embarresing but its the structure of our youth academys. Rafa and Wenger have got it right, bring in foreigners to compare to English talent and you will see the difference is stupid. And hopefully this will kick start England (we are behind on everything compared to Europe, not just sport) into investing heavily into youth sports schemes. Ist annoying, embarresing and pathetic.

School football teams? What a joke in this day and age. You see a kid with talent you invest in it and hopefully reap the awards. We dont do that.

Expect to win? Wecant even pass the :censored: ball properly. Surely thats a basic.

nothing to do with technical ability. its about pride. dont tell me that technically croatian footballers are better than english, thats cr@p. its about playing the right players in the right formations and making them care.

when it comes down to who wins, the brazils and frances, then it comes down to technical ability. us not qualifying from the group is down to poor management, playing, supporting etc etc etc

i thought gerrard had a decent enough game...he thinks with his heart too much and that will always be his problem. but now he can focus on only us for the next 3 years at least it can only be good.
