arsenal have scored a pile of goals from set pieces and we were all at sea

i thought their disallowed goal at the end was VERY iffy, tbh

Think it’s a bit confusing who you support

Not very bright, are you? Ah well, takes all sorts.
I'll spell it out clearly for you

I thought we were out played, out thought and out muscled in midfield leading to Mo and Nunez getting very little service.

Reading the Times this morning you'd think Arsenal spent the whole game hanging on. Like they all watched a different match.

For me the midfield was very weak, Gravenberch, Jones etc.. didn't turn up, MacAlister tried but ended up being very frustrated.

Nunez? Well he's NOT Fernando Torres is he?
No midfield general, no tight discipline. We have a team of good quality squad players, now that Mo's turning into the provider role we suddenly have no quality front man and no dominant midfield. We miss Wijnaldum, we miss Stevie obviously, we miss Mane/Bobby/Mo. We're way weaker than that team.

We need a world class striker like Torres for Mo to feed, a world class midfielder and a RB to cover TAA/Bradley/Robbo.

Again at the risk of repeating myself I actually think it was a solid performance, Arsenal will probably go on to win the title this year, expecting us to rock up at our main rivals and completely play them off the park in front of their own fans is more than a tadge unrealistic, even our great teams of the 60's, 70's and 80's didnt do that, not regularly anyway, away games against the likes of Leeds, Derby, QPR, Forest, Everton or whoever we were competing against for the title at the time were just as cagey and tight as that one on Sunday.
That was a good result for us, Arsenal were about 30 seconds away from beating City at the Etihad a few weeks ago and they played half the game with 10 men. They've beaten Villa at Villa, they've beaten Spurs at Spurs....they are an effin good side, they have spent 100m on a single player, they are a serious outfit, we showed a lot of heart and fight to come back twice even when not at our best.

That's true Yakka but we're not good enough. We're a team of squad players. Our 3 best players are our oldest, Allison, VVD and Mo.

If they don't do it this season, wonder when they will. They are a settled side, twice in a title race and hungry.

City look off but are still getting results and usually hit another gear 2nd half of the season. Also I'm sure they will recruit in Jan.

We are doing well with what we've got. I agree we definitely need improvements if we want to win the title.

However, it would be funny if 3 of us never really get in gear and the best out the lot scrapes it in the end.

Agreed with yakka, both the result and performance on Sunday weren't horrible at all considering the oposition.

We are not a team of galactico's Reg i'll give you that but the 3 you mentioned plus the likes of Trent, Luis Diaz, Konate etc etc are much, much better than squad players mate, we might not be the best team in england or in europe but we are certainly good enough to be in the mix - for both the title and CL.
When we won that double in 86 we werent the best team in the country, Everton were, but we were close enough to them  to be able to step in if Everton weren't quite at their best which is exactly what happened. I think we are in a similar position now, i think atm there are probably 2 better sides than us in this country but as Sunday showed there's not an awful lot in it, not an awful lot in it at all, even on their own patch in a game billed as a must win for them they couldnt put us away.
Because they weren't good enough to do the business themselves Arsenal now suddenly find themselves relying on someone else to do them a favour, they desperately need someone to take points off us. They now go into every game under serious pressure, one slip and that 4 point gap quickly becomes 7, another slip and it's 10, this in a season where City are almost certain to be hit with at the very least a significant points deduction, how on earth can the premier league hit Everton and Forest with 10 point deductions for relatively minor breeches of the rules but let City off without looking corrupt. they have to throw the book at City to protect their brand, Look at what corruption did to the worldwide viewing figures of Serie A, the premier league of the 80's.
Sunday's result was a massive result for us, we didnt allow Arsenal to close that gap, i know it's still early but we are applying serious pressure to Arsenal and will continue to do so as long as we can keep that 4 point gap, the title is within our grasp mate, forget City, the race is between us and Arsenal, that gap is everything because it means pressure heaped on Arsenal's shoulders. History has shown that even the best teams struggle when the sword of damocles is above their heads, indeed its how we won the title under Jurgen, we opened up a little gap, kept on winning and City eventually cracked under the pressure of having to play de facto title deciders every week.  Arsenal may well be better than us mate but they are in a bit of sh.1t now after Sunday's result. Can we keep winning to keep the pressure on, thats the key thing now.
