Good result against a sticky team that defended deep. Big difference between today and Forest was Gakpo passing rather than Diaz going for goal himself and wasting the chance, the goal then made it easier. Gravenberch was excellent again, his pass percentage is outstanding especially considering he’s not just making easy sideways passes. As was mentioned, Allison gets injured a lot for a keeper, seems unusual. He seemed to be blaming Trent but Trent was under pressure so what else could he do with the ball. Young goalie came in and seemed assured and brought confidence back to the team. My gut tells me Allison will be out for a while.

Diaz looked completely off balance on the right side when he came on for Salah, he kept going over to the left side as that is his “trick” and on the right he seemed lost.

We are a lot more solid at the back than last year with the same players so you have to think that is a Slot improvement. Incredibly only two goals conceded in seven matches and five clean sheets. If there is one thing that stitched the whole season together so far it’s been how well Gravenberch did the job for the manager. I think clearly the most influential player so far.

On a side note, I feel Gakpo could also play the number 6 role in a crunch as he has similarities to Gravenberch’s skill set.

Sloppy performance and we gave many opportunities for them to equalise throughout the second half. Jones was invisible as usual. But a good 3 points after the midweek CL game.

We didn't do much wrong, Palace away isn't an easy fixture and our first half performance was excellent. The only thing we didnt do was finish them off with a second goal, we had 2 or 3 really good chances but didnt take any of them. No matter who you play when there's only one goal in it its always going to be nervy.
Out of us, City and Arsenal we had the toughest fixture to negotiate today and we did it. Congrats to Arne and the lads on a job well done.

Should've got a second missed quite few chances, got nervy in the end as I thought Palace may spoil the party and equalise.

We keep going, tough test will begin after the international break.

Top of the league and so far only 2 goals conceeded, exceeding expectations so far.

On another day that game could have cost us points due to not taking the opportunity to kill it off. We had the chances but ended up holding on. They get back into that and it was hard to see us leave with the 3 points.

Ali looks to have done his hamstring so going to be out for a while. It seems to be the same injury every season. Kelleher was missing through illness so hopefully back midweek..Credit to Jaros though for looking like he belongs there and again imo makes the Mamardasvili signing even more pointless.

Listening to Slot before and after matches and he doesn't miss much. Seems to notice everything happening on the pitch. Love that about him.

It's great that we are top but up till now our start has been mostly bottom half sides, but that changes now after the break. As good as we have been we still give up plenty of chances. Sometimes I think if there was a bit more quality on the day some of those results could have been different.

Anyhow Top of the table going into the 2nd break with a new manager is fantastic. Couldn't have asked for any better.

Came up on my insta feed earlier. The 3-3 there a few years back. Palace fans call it their Crystanbul. They were 0-3 down at half time and somehow we managed to scrape a point. It was THAT season.
I don't like playing Palace for some reason. They always cause us trouble but it seems to be always self inflicted.
I thought history was going to repeat itself. A better team would not have let us off the hook.
I hope Slot at least went home with Eze's moby number...

That game ended up 3-3 because we basically had no defenders, everyone was in the Palace half trying to score. Winning the game wasnt enough for us, yes we were neck and neck with City but their goal difference was something like +9 better than ours, our players went into kamikaze mode trying to close the gap in GD and they were right to because like in 1989 when Arsenal beat us not on points, not even on GD but the next metric on the list - goals scored, no one remembers how you lost they just remember who won. Arsenal have made a cottage industry out of that title win in 89, books films the lot, even though they beat a bunch of physically shattered, emotionally traumatised young men by a hairs breath.
We could have easily shut up shop at 0-3 against Palace and lost the league on GD instead of the eventual 2 points we lost it by but our players to their credit decided to give it a lash and to go out on their shields which they did.
