Trents attitude to being took off at the 72nd minute is concerning. He sulked on the bench, and then didn't even celebrate with the lads after the 2-0 win. He's asked for his contract talks to remain silent with the club.

He doesn't want the fans to know that he wants out... that's what that tells me.

He could have been another Gerrard but he's going to do a Mcmanaman and ruin his legacy.

Another clean sheet and 3 points, nice.

Thought Diaz played really well, good link up play esp liked how him and robbo connected.

Let's keep the momentum going, United up next, please don't be another stale draw, we're due a win against them.

Don't think it will ruin his legacy Mate as this situation is the clubs doing. They should have sorted his situation before we even kicked a ball last season never mind letting him be in the position he is now. If he signs another deal then it's going to scupper any chance he has of going to Madrid.

To be fair Red, Klopp telling everyone he will quit last year must have put all the players with short contracts on hold. It gave them all a good excuse to wait and see. Klopp said that he announced he was leaving for the players’ sake.

Mo looked unhappy being subbed, Trent looked unhappy being subbed and Virgil’s post match interview says he isn’t signing. Those three will leave for free in my opinion and it is annoying.

About subbing Trent…. We were two nil up, it’s a long season and we have a replacement that also needs minutes. It was probably what was best for the team.

I guess that's why we haven't signed anyone yet, we know we'll need a shitton of money to replace those 3 next season. The fact that we'll allow them to go for free is ridiculous though. I hope at least one of them stays because if all 3 go at once it will surely destabilize the team.

Virgil clearly wants to stay, okay he's getting on a bit but CB's these days are still playing when they are pushing 40, Pepe's over 40. He's already made that readjustment from relying on his pace/athleticism to relying on his positional sense and ability to read the game, he had to after Pickfords career-ender of a tackle on him and he's done a good job of transitioning from natural athlete to wily old pro. He's easily got at least another couple of seasons in him so i dont know why the club arent shoving a 3 year deal under his nose.
The other 2 are a bit more complicated, Mo has been unbelievable for us over the years but its tougher for forwards to stay competitive as they age than CB's, as for Trent he did my head in the other day the gob on him, go and be an Owen and McManaman then, after your career is over no one here will give a sh1t what you won in Spain, no one will be interested in your money or your medals or you. Arne should have just ignored him, he should not be leaving his seat mid-way through a game to explain or justify his decisions to any player especially one who thinks he's too good for this club, his hometown club.
Far better players than Trent have pretty much been airbrushed out of the fans consciousness for a perceived lack of loyalty, Kevin Keegan was a God in the 70's, the best player in English football bar none, he certainly wouldnt have been kept out of the England team by Kyle Walker and Reece James thats for sure. Kevin should be venerated like Kenny but if the fans feel someone has turned their back on the club they love they instinctively turn their backs on them.

You don't let players enter the final 2 years without a commitment that he's going to sign as the price drops drastically. Then you let them enter the final year and your fooked because moving on a free is more lucrative for them. Big signing on fee and can get a bigger wage due to not having to pay the club a transfer fee. Klopps announcement might have rattled a few which is normal given the change that entails but the contracts aren't down to him . That's the boards decision and they have form for this. At the very least those 3 contracts should have been Sorted before Slot took over. It being up in the air is no good for him as he gets no signings this year and faces losing 3 of his best players next year and with no money coming in for them means young under the radar replacements.

It's all about budgets mate and FSG stick rigidly to it along with their principles. Both Mo and Virgil are the wrong side of 30 and against club policy to give them big deals which is right imo. Are they willing to take wage cuts. Trent is academy so has no amortisation or cost to the club other than wages. Selling him is 100% profit but him leaving for free won't result in a loss and probably all included in the budget. As recent as 2 weeks ago Virgil had said he still had no offer so that tells you everything you need to know.

Last year we seemed to have no money then we had loads to bid for caiceido which we were led to think it would be used this season and here we are with some bull about the manager wanting to assess the squad. If we don't sign anyone then we are quids in this window and led to believe next year will be bumper but when that time comes the posts will have shifted again.

No way Van Dijk has 6 or 7 years left in him at this level Yakka. Different in Saudi or a slower league but not here. Mo is waning as well and if they want to prolong their carreers then they do what the rest did and move to a league that suits.

Agree that Slot shouldn't have to go and explain anything to a player he took off and I'd worry about this dragging on all season. Mo had a right go at Klopp on the sideline in full view of everyone because he was been brought on late and my worry is he will do this to Slot should his form drop or Slot wants to rest him.

i wasnt actually proposing that Virgil should get a ten year deal mate, i was just saying at a time when CB's are playing until well into their late 30's giving Virgil a 2 or 3 year extension probably doesnt constitute that big a risk especially considering he only just turned 33 last month, plus as i said GK and CB are probably the 2 positions on the pitch where players can go on that bit longer and still stay relatively competative. Big Sami played on until he was 37/38, Carra until he was 35/36 and probably would have stayed on a bit longer only that SKY offered him a plum job he didnt feel he could turn down.

I expect VDD will see out his career here, he's a great player but he's past his prime and neither City or Arsenal would coming looking for him so why move.
