Manhattan Presents.....Blackpool: A History.

- Not many people know, that famous northern comedian Roy "Chubby" Brown was actually born at the end of the Central Pier.

- Blackpool takes it's name from a pool that was black.

- The city of Blackpool is on the coast of the "Irish Sea". Not many people know that the Irish Sea is actually an Irish citizen. It was born in Cork, at the same farm where Roy Keane was born....in the same barn.

- According to scientists, residents of Blackpool are not technically considered "human". But rather are an evolutionary offshoot that broke from homo sapians about 60,000 years ago.

- The Blackpool Tower is actually the top half of the Eiffel Tower. The people of Blackpool stole it in 1889, forcing the residents of Paris to rebuild their vandalised monument.

- An interesting fact about the tower, is that it is actually a large supernatural antenna, which was designed to gather paranormal energy.

- The Blackpool Illuminations cause the hole in the ozone layer to grow by three miles every year.

- The tram that killed that guy from Coronation Street is still at large and is highly dangerous. If you have seen the tram, please contact Crimewatch. You will not have to give your name or address.

- The Pleasure Beach isn't actually all that pleasurable. Technically the emotion it raises is "joyfulness", with a hint of happiness.

- The town of Fleetwood was named after musician Mick Fleetwood, who famously made a tit of himself at the 1990 Brit Awards.

- WWE wrestler William Regal was born in Blackpool.

- WWE wrestler Triple H was also born in Blackpool.

- Blackpool FC play in orange because oranges were first grown in Blackpool.

- The colour orange was also invented in Blackpool.

- William Of Orange was born in Blackpool.

- The Sandcastle swimming centre is actually made out of sand.

- Blackpool Zoo is home to several exotic animals, such as zebras, tigers, and velociraptors.

- The large roller-coaster named "The Pepsi Max Big One" has been sabotaged several times by people loyal to Coca Cola.

- The Pepsi Max Big One is actually quite big.

- Blackpool is famous for it's numerous "bed and breakfast" hotels, where you have the choice of either sleeping in the bed, then eating breakfast, or you can eat the bed and sleep in the breakfast.

- The world famous Winter Gardens are actually quite cold.

- No planes actually land or take off from Blackpool International Airport.

- Porn star Pat Astley is from Blackpool.

- Musician Rick Astley is not from Blackpool, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy his music:

Sing It Rick!
