I crosspost a post from Karhaz in the real world, and bring it here, it seems a better thread for that kind of discussion

No not at all, by "select few" I mean there posts are agreed with instantly and questions raised against the rest. For me Maypax wasnt one of those instantly welcomed but he did well against the grain to gain some kind of respect. His opinions and threads were new and welcome. What im saying is this. If we are to welcome new members on here not only do they have to be original, but so do us old members.

LFC2007' first months weren't particularly smooth. Many considered him a WUM. ???

Nanny's case is different. I think she became part of the family for several reasons,  she is always kind with everybody, she knows lots of old stories about Liverpool and their players, and she's always ready to not take herself too seriously.

I don't remember Maypax' firsts posts, but yes the ones after a couple of months he joined. He looked nice, and I found interesting the blog he had.

My point is that I don't see a common pattern in the members that became regulars.

What it's true, Karhaz, and it's difficult to change that because forums are always like that, people tend to read more the regulars, or with more attention, than the new ones.

Why this happens? well if we come here probably is because we enjoy reading others about our fav club, and within that others some posters become your favourite. It normally takes a time until you consider a member "regular" and you pay more attention.

But this is not "thought" but you do it unconsciously.

The problem gets worse when you have less time. 4 years ago I had a worse paid job but less busy and I had time to read newkit more deeply. Now I have less time, and you can't help to select a bit what you read. For instance 3 years ago I would have visited the premiership section, now it's been a couple of weeks I don't read anything from there.

Also, not becoming a regular is also up to every poster. Have you ever noticed newbies are eager to start new threads rather than joining existing dicussions? That's natural when you're a newbie. After that, some of them learn to read others and post afterwards, some of them do not get ever used to not being answered or their new threads not becoming popular. So the latter posters leave.

Other posters, are simply happy with post little, and read a lot. And that's respectable too. I'd be tempted sometimes to read a lot and post little, but for me newkit has also the selfish goal of practicing my english, that otherwise gets rusty -- I just assume that the posts that aren't good will be ignored.

So, if you ask the members to welcome the newbies, then I'm with you totally. But I don't think that there are strange things happening in this forum when it comes to newbies.

i didnt know you read my blog Sabre :D  if it is the old one you're refering to, i think i deleted it after my break up as there were things i didnt wanna remember in there. my current one is here here if you still read it.

anyway, first of all, im deeply moved by the comments of some posters especially Saint, MH, TH, Kharhaz, Destro, Peewee etc. it makes me feel much more welcomed especially when you read certain comments which coming from some random person who dont know you at all. im honestly surprised and touched by the reaction so a massive thanks goes out to you guys.

now for this topic....i agree with Saint's points. i also agree with Judge, regarding the poll idea. id like the mods to speak up, and answer a few questions without getting all rilled up and feel im challenging your positions before i get banned again.

1) is there ANY rule that says no PMs can be posted? many have been posted before, they dont get carded. so just because i posted a mod's PM does that make it a crime just because he is a mod? why didnt others before get carded? so was i made an example of? did the mod who banned me ''have a chat'' with the others before banning me? i dont deny i feel harshly treated, but if this so-called rule which says PMs cant be posted is legit, i expect, and im sure everyone here expects consistency. otherwise, you can simply put the reason behind my banning my because the mod had an issue with me.

2) a poll should be set up and the banning of a member should be confirmed that way. of course there will be bias, but dont mistake bias for leniency. Saint's 48hour idea is also valid.

3) Kharhaz was unhappy his post got deleted and so was i as i was insulted, and in such circumstances, that poster would have been carded. but instead, his post got deleted. its like getting away with murder. the police gets rid of the murderer's fingerprints after the crime is done. metaphor. i read the post, and others did as well. but what happened was that the post gets removed as if it didnt exist at all. im sure you know exactly what im talking about BB. why was the post removed? was it to protect the poster? put yourself in my place, would be feel fairly treated? if you dont, the next time we get an unfair call during the match, remember this.

4) is there any bias among the mods? do they favour certain members more?

at this point ive got nothing else to add. mods, i hope you all have the guts to continue this conversation with me without abusing your power and carding me or accusing me of trying to disrupt the peace of this forum.
