Ive been trying to run an old playstation 2 on a new 42 inch tv, but when i connect it all up , switch on i get a very loud humming sound , and no picture.   I know the ps2 works fine on other smaller tvs so the problem must lay with the tv  :sniffle

Are you going via SCART?

I assume so. Try disconnecting the RGB leads from the SCART connector and plugging directly into the RGB ports on the TV.

Recently when I google stuff instead of getting the site I've clicked on I frequently end up on an E Bay or Shopodo page. WTF is that all about and does anyone know, apart from not googling anything, how to avoid it ?

Sounds like a redirect virus.

Update your anti-virus and spyware scanner and start a system wide scan.

I would install and run -

Spybot Search & Destroy (download here)

I never needed anything but Spybot.

But one other useful tool is McAfee SiteAdvisor (download here). It will warn you before clicking on a google link whether the website is safe or not. Hopefully preventing any future incidents of a virus being downloaded to your machine.

Cheers mate, I've run the spybot and deleted loads of malware/cookies, not sure yet if it's made a difference, (won't know till I start a session of googling stuff ).

The McAfee SiteAdvisor sounds more than useful, thanx for the tip.

Yeah, that sounds like a re-direct bot problem.

Cause: surfing porn and warez sites!  :D
