I think he's confused Yank...

USA = United States of America, not United South Africa, or University of Southern Alabama, or even Uzbekistan.

I agree totally Andy.

The southerners though are likely to feel patriotic more than anyone else as its happening in their own back yard so to speak. Elsewhere of course, the attitude is different. The southerners think that all of Britain should feel proud to be British, while in the north, a majority of us couldn't give two sh!ts.

Judging by the amount of empty seats reported, im not alone in my opinion.

If you think that the empty seats is some sort of proof that the public don't give a feck about the Olympics then I suggest you go check the reasons why there are empty seats - it has nothing to do with them being unsold - every public seat is sold bar a couple hundred. The empty seats are from the Olympic family and overseas Olympic Organisations.

30 mil watched the opening ceremony

20 mil watched the men's road race ffs

Over 15 mil watched Addlington

60 thousand turned up to watch cross country

Every single train from Manchester and Leeds and South West is full going into London

The whole country is gripped by it - it's only the bitter minority that complain about it all and as they say "don't give a f*ck "

Go start your own thread and you can slate and hate the Olympics in there

Ahh the hypocrite speaks. When England were playing in the Euros were was your patriotism then? While the rest of us were hoping England do well, you were there with your negative bullsh!t constantly putting a dampener on things. Were was your own thread for that eh? Why is it we have to put up with your opinions but everyone else can sod off?

Is it a case of being patriotic when it suits you Benny?  or is it simply down to the fact you cannot control your own hypocrisy?

I explained my reasons for not giving a Sh*t about England football team plenty of times - have no time for a bunch of over paid prima donna ***** who believe their own hype yet achieve f*ck all.

I'll stick with people who have to fight and beg for funding and sacrafice everything to get to the Olympics and show pride in being part of something special - building a legacy for children of the future.

It's insulting to true sports legends and hero to have the England football team mentioned in the same breath.

The Olympics is the greatest sporting event in the world and I have felt proud to witness such a wonderful occasion being put on by the country.

The England Ladies Hockey captain got hit in the face by a stick the other night - there was no rolling around or diving - she went to hospital , had surgery to put a plate in her cheekbone - stayed overnight and was back with the team the next day and will play tommz !!! That's the sort of bravery that is true and will inspire people - not our England Football players.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is to say that the hoards of athletes who've tested positive for performance enhancing drugs at Olympic competitions over the years have done far more to undermine the integrity of sport than anything the England players have ever done. Ben Johnson anyone?

I think the anti-Olympic thread should have stayed open so all the Cultural Marxists could vent their disgust of the Olympics and Britain's role in it as they so clearly desire; and let this thread run with sport talk, rather than ruining the thread with such 'fashionable' talk of slating our & others' own, sportsmen and women in this huge event.
