In my opinion I can understand why she is plastering herself over the media in an effort to raise funds for her kids, any parent would do anything they see best to cement their kids future.

I wouldn't watch her, those who do reflect the state of what the public call "entertainment" nowadays.

Also known for being a racist bully, but of course that's all forgotten now

dawson99 wrote:What gets me is that at no point have i heard her talk about whats happened in a way that would help others. She has the power of the media and she could be helping 100,000s with her tale, but shed rather talk about her marriage and how she wants the money. she could have promoted cancer charities or cancer research but shes not.

of course we feel sorry for her, but no more than the millions fo other sufferers every year.

I agree - she hasn't come out and public said please go and have yourselves checked over... etc

but just the fact that she doing all this in the media, seems to be having a positive effect...

'Jade Goody effect' sees cervical screening soar by more than 20%

The 'Jade Goody' effect has seen a massive increase in the number of women going for cervical screening, according to cancer specialists.

A university in south-east London has seen 21 per cent more women coming for smear tests since Jade was diagnosed with cervical cancer last August.

Experts believe that women who have read about Jade's plight in magazines have been spurred on to go for tests themselves

University Hospital Lewisham carried out 21 per cent more tests in the months since Jade was diagnosed compared with the same period the previous year.

'We have definitely seen an increase in uptake due to Jade Goody,' said Robert Music, director of the cervical cancer organisation, Jo's Trust.

'The fact that it is in the news a lot of the time clearly makes a difference. I think that in this celebrity age, many people relate to Goody. It is almost as if she has become a part of their lives- a family member,' he told the Guardian.

Cervical cancer is the most preventable form of cancer but is the second biggest killer of women in their 30s in the UK
More than 4 million women in the UK are invited every year to attend for a smear test and over 90% receive a normal smear result.

Around 3,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, but the chances of survival are far higher if it is caught early.

But last year only two-thirds of women aged 25-29 - Jade is 27 - actually turned up for their screening.

Would not wish it upon anyone , she's a fellow human being but not nice the way she's been milking the press or whatever she is doing ,  this last few days she's in every news paper

I can see where both sides of the press are coming from. On one hand I think she should be spending time close to family instead of putting it out in the open. But on the other hand as pointed out above in airing it publically she is raising awareness so thats a good thing.

She is raising awareness but dont think for a minute she is thinking of others. She is a horrible being who struck lucky for being the mess she is on tv. Her entire attitude is horrible and everything about her is horrible. Like others I wouldnt wish this horrible illness on my worst enemy but lets not butter her up to be anything other than a horrible mess who got caught up in the real "reality".

Whether you like the girl or not it's nothing short of a tragedy for her and her family.

If she can get millions for her kids by selling the story - who can blame her?

The fact she is a celeb for doing feck all is hardly her fault, it's the fault of the general public for watching sh!te like big brother and the general public's demand for sensationalism news. If the people were not so fascinated by reality tv then she would be a dole scrounger or a menial worker. She didn't put herself in the public eye, she was given the chance by us and took it. Good on her

Exactly she is just looking out for her kids. I hope so anyway.

even tho i have no love for Jade goody, i do feel sorry for her. 27 is no age and many of us here remember Phil and his battle with this awful disease....lets hope this raises awareness and makes more women get regular smear tests.

If all this publicity helps save livies then it is worth it.
