Yeah Red , released 3-4 years ago, western title "The Promise". Another visual feast from China, contains lots of "fanatasy" but I loved it.

As far as the cinematography is concerned it's right up there with Curse of the Golden Flower, Hero etc etc .

ps Red, was looking through my asian dvd's, your lad might like this one.

Arahan

Korean martial arts movie with loads of laughs , entire film (with subtitles) is viewable on YouTube.

Haven't seen Robot Geisha yet Andy but the trailer looks nuts so I'll be on the lookout for it.

Robot Geisha trailer

the director is Noburu Iguchi who did Tokyo Gore Police and Machine Girl.

aha, i forgot about this thread.

We (my company) is about to release a feature lenght film, firstly in Malaysia, then internationally. Its our first movie, and a bit off track from what we normally do, but it's gonna be awesome. Think superhero movie, good vs evil, special affects, matrix style and a little bit of james bond.

check out the marketing trailer:
HAQ The Movie

You can also check out some of the key art on our facebook page:
Facebook

Obviously its in the Malaysian language, but will have subtitles. Release is looking like mid april 2010. You probably won't be able to see it until 2011 or late 2010 on DVD.
I know none of you will illegally download it. :D

edit: actually here is one piece of key art i quite like:

Good production values Babu BUT think i saw a fella in a sarong plus pants attempting a "roundhouse" kick ! sorry mate, just looked so Fu*king "gay" to me, reminded me of all those hindi movies where the "hero" wears mascara and lipstick while he cries on to his mothers blouse. Maybe it's a cultural thing but I couldn't connect with this at all .

OK, I'm only going by the trailer but there's no invention in there at all. Take a look at some of the stuff being produced next door in Thailand, some real invention and jaw dropping "haven't seen that before" action.

Doubt if I'll be looking out for HAQ which is a pity because as far as the production is concerned the film making technical ability is obviously there, unfortunately it's wasted on a pi'ss poor emulation of a thousand movies we've already seen.

Surely Malaysia with it's rich history has more to offer ?

Saw Dhoom advertised Daws but fit women aside I've always found Bollywood stuff a bit naff so didn't watch it.

HMV. I usually go to the one opposite M&S (the Tottenham Court Rd end of Oxford St) think thats their biggest (?).

Normally spend at least an hour browsing from one end of the world cinema section to the other. Some great bargains in their last time I looked Daws.

Was also a bit peeved to see stuff I'd previously paid top whack for(e.g. Welcome to Dongmakul, I am a Cyborg ansd others) ,now going for less than a tenner.  :(

By rest of the country you mean Barry , Andy G and three other people ?

:D .

btw Andy your ideas' not far off base. I bought "They fought for the Motherland  (Russian war movie) for £22, five days later it was on sale £6 ! Fortunately I always keep reciepts and I was back up there the next day with my copy , told them "I didn't realise it was subtitled I thought it was dubbed". Got my money back, then bought the £6 copy .    :D
