Nearly over two weeks now and they are everywhere ive got ant boxes down inside and out with poison in, ant powder all around the house outside absoluty no joy on killing the nests what so ever.
They just keep coming and coming into the house got up this morning and they where in the bloody toilet ffs.
Ive put bleach on the surfaces cleaned the draws out, made sure theres not a single crumb on the floor and the little b@stards are everywhere. ive put salt trails down they just keep marching through it
Any ideas how to get shut? I know they are harmless but i dont want them in the house and need to get shut before I go on holiday otherwise god knows what the house will be like when we get back.

Only joking.
However are salt trails to stop snails/slugs?
Why would salt stop ants

On how clean is your house they say put salt down so they cant follow each others trail but its not helping.

When seasons change down under CGGY and ants are on the move, we find Talcum powder or chalk dust can act as pretty good roadblock. Not sure if works for your northern hemisphere ant though ![biggrin :D](https://www.liverpoolfc-newkit.co.uk/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

i feel your pain, lynds. i have a huge ant invasion going on aswell - been about a month now. for about three weeks i was playing a game of hide the honey but they'd always find it again really quickly. i tried home made borax traps but they didn't work, then we tried shop bought traps and they don't work either. in fact, i'm sure i've seen the little bastárds walking straight through them.
i know often find myself on my hands and knees in the kitchen squashing as many as i can in occasional frenzies of killing and maiming, and i've alway been virtually bhuddist in my attitude to killing things. i know people go on about how cool ants are, about their amazing organisational skills and their work ethic, but its the last thing i think about when i see 3oo of the fúckers climbing out of my biscuits.

The little poison traps that are sold in the supermarket and they look like little bunkers with holes, work for me.
It doesn't work in 4 days, but eventually it works, when they carry the poison to their nest.
Any other traditional war tactics like smashing them won't work.
My local ants also go to the toilet, and I wonder what are they looking for there too, as there is not food.
The ants are incredible, when you kill them and leave the corpse there, wait some minutes and you'll see how a recovery ant brigade comes and recovers the corpse to bring it home. Little clever working bástards.
