British sitcom actor Brian Wilde passed away today and I thought I'd put it up here as he was part of my favourite sitcom of all time, Porridge, where he played prison officer Barraclough. A rather simple and naive screw, but extremely funny.

He was also in last of the summer wine (never watched it meself) and that's probably what he was most famous for. He appeared in other shows as well, but to many to list.

So RIP Mr Barraclough.

I thought he was already dead ! Imagine my surprise when it was announced. Great actor and gentleman. Love watching the ole Last of the summer wine episodes, old men still kids at heart.
Will be missed. Especially more from me because I thought he already went !

I watched a lil of the film Porridge on Friday (didn't realise it was on)....

It reminded me of what a classic series it was and what great actors it had.

Also liked Richard Beckinsale (Godber) and Fulton Mackay (Mr Mackay).

Sorry to hear about Brian Wilde, and my sympathies to his family.

Richard Beckinsale was absolute class, he died way too young but you lot are right, porridge was absolute genius... fave episode has to be when they are let out to fic the church and sneak off for a crafty pint then get locked in the church

richard beckinsale was genius in Rising Damp as Alan.

fave porridge episode though has to be no peace for the wickered, where fletcher can't get any peace and is interuprted by everybody, he even ends up throwing the chaplain over the rail
