England don't know what their strenghts are full stop. Sven has incorporated the Italian style (negative) with traditional English style (positive) but in more recent times the Italian style has pervailed.  :no

And you'd think the players would have the intelligence to dis-obey Sven and play to their strenghts.  :D

I think it could turn out to be a very tactical battle, which is great as Scolari vs Sven is no contest. Crouch should start, but I've heard he won't, which is of great advantage to Portugal IMO. I don't think Rooney will do enough damage up front on his own, he needs a partner, and I think Crouchy compliments him well.

Portugal will play 4-5-1, so Sven perhaps wants to man up in midfield, the difference is Beckham and Cole don't take men on down the wing, whereas Simao, Figo and Ronaldo (I think he'l play) will do this (as will Miguel form RB) For me Portugal will win the game down the flanks.

1-0. Pauleta to score from a header.

Força Portugal!

Stevie man of the match bet for me, and 1st scorer. just hope it s a decent game to watch but somehow i think it will be another 0-0 1-0 affair (now ive said that it'll be 4-3!!!)

I have a feeling it will be 2 nil to England with Gerrard and Crouchy both scoring.

If Rooney is the only one upfront (4-5-1 formation) then Hargreaves or Carrick will be playing the holding midfiled role so that Gerrard and Lampard can support Rooney.

Wondering whether 4-4-2 to be better employed for this game.  What do you all think?

Witht he midfield they have (players on suspension, figo in charge there) we need to play 5 there to just overpower them.

No point playing 442 when we can have hargreaves in the holding role and fatty and gerrard can get forward and stevie can get the goals :)

a hot day forcast (30degrees). This will suit Portugal a whole lot more than England.

Lionheart,  have been hearing that the roof of the stadium has been closed for a couple of days and will be shut during the match.  This apparently will keep the pitch area quite cool.  So should be alright for England

Close match up with the players, but as a team -Portugal play football.
Lets see who wants it more!
  2-1 Portugal

With the players unavailable to Portugal for this match, we should, on paper at least, win this one in a canter.

But knowing bleeding the bleeding @rse, sven, we'll likely make hard work of this.

But with Stevie in the right role, the 3 lions will prevail!!!
