Because he was a cheaper option to simao to provide us width to supply crouch crosses just like all the fans wanted

Yeah we were expecting to get Simao and as it is that deal was being quite late in the day. Pennant was the only option we had left given the time we had. Even then we paid way over the odds for him. What was it 7Mil?

We should have used him when he had him , he had qualities , like the last one we all saw against AC Milan , something must have happened between him and benitez  . He's not consistant , but i guess he has more impact then ryan babel too be honest . Either way , not missed while we are having kuyt and benni on fire . Anyways Good Luck too him . i think he'll do well in valencia

Is this the old "Jermaine Pennant, no need for a new RM" thread?

Not sure what Rafa ever saw in him, I guess a mid-price buy of a player who could do a job rather than buy quality at a lot more cost. 34 apps in his first season, 18 in his second and just three this. About 1/3 of his appearances first season were as sub.

I saw a list the other day of the worst 50 transfers, he was in the list between 50 and 41. While trying to find the link I see the bitters have had a playered burgled (Pienaar), still looking for the link. Could have sworn it was linked on BBC in the last few days, I couldn't find any hyperlink to the other 40 so I didn't post it anywhere.

Bit harsh having Cuellar in there as he has been very good for villa this season

Some very odd names in that list. Damian Duff ? why ?
The guy has tried is best and done wonderfully well in pushing NewCastle towards relegation. :p

I dont recall any mistakes Cuellar has made but Laursen being injured or f/cked for good, and Cuellar coming in has coincided with the major downturn in Villas form and results.

But yeah does seem a little harsh on him to be in that list.

Pablo Hernández? not really a kid. I would imagine Joaquin is on his way out, he had some temper tantrums lately.

See the full list and I think we could all name another five Liverpool players who could and maybe should be on that list ahead of players like Cuellar.

Cheyrou, Pennant, Kewell, Keane and Diao get mentioned, no mention of Dundee, Diouf, Babb, Piechnik, Dossena, Babel etc. Keane was an inevitable inclusion given his fee and length of stay, Dossena is still here but has become 3rd choice LB and most of his appearances recently have been late in games. Dossena started nine of the first 17 Premiership games of this season, he has started just three and played three others of the last 19 Premiership games. Even though Dossena is still here, he has still made two less Premiership appearances than Keane so at best he could equal Keane's season tally in near double the time period
