This is a safe signing instead of these youngsters people are trying to throw money at.

Welcome Charlie!

Scotland is part of England now?
are we back to the era of King Longshanks ?

Same same  :D

Didn't know sorry. He still counts as a homegrown right?

I highly doubt it.  But we are pretty well covered in that area now anyway.

Adam is the best replacement for Alonso. He is a dead ball specialist and can make telling, intelligent passes which should supply enough bullets for Suarez and Carroll to shoot for goals. I don't think we need anymore central midfielders for now. We desperately need quality left and right wingers to improve the squad to challenge for the title.

But that's what you get I guess, with being 6th in the league and no euro football. That will change though, I am certain of it, no matter this sit-back.

has the window shut now? no? oh then we well sign other players then before it does?

cheer up ffs

Poulsen's a must. Cole and Jovanovic can also do one (although they'e not CM's). Shelvey's gone out on loan. It's a toss up between Aqua and Raul as well. Our Cm's will be Adam, Gerrard, Lucas, Aquilani and Spearing (but don't quote me on it!).

What about Henderson ? Our 20 million pound signing .

Poulsen , Meireles and Aquilani are going .

So we have spent 30 million to replace Aquilani and Meireles ? Have we improved in that replacement ? No - we have downgraded IMO

It's 'Benny not got a clue' !  :Oo:

So are Henderson and Adam better than Meireles and Aquilani ?

How many people have actually watched on a regular basis and not just on You Tube videos ? What do they think of his form since Jan .

He takes a decent set piece but his movement is not great , his tracking back is not that great , he was afforded a free role at Blackpool and won't with us - as for his passing , he had one of the worst completion rates in the prem - yet we have people talking like he is the next Alonso .

He did well at St Mirren ( small club ) failed at Rangers ( big club ) did well at Blackpool ( small club ) - you can see the pattern .

He was that bad after jan that his manager was threatening to drop him from the team .

The level of expectation people are putting on him is a mirror image of what happened this time 12 months ago with J Cole - looked what happened there .

He doesn't add anything to the squad and currently he wouldn't even get in our strongest 11 .

The good thing about this signing is Konchesky is going the other way and it means Poulsen is further down the pecking order .

I was looking forward to a really positive step into the transfer Market this summer and to finally address the areas we are lacking - LB, wide players CB and back up striker and so far it has been very disappointing - we has given the Greek another contract and missed out on Jones , we have missed out on Young and bought two central midfielders for 30 mil and we have missed out on Wickham . The areas we are weak are still there big as ever but we do now have 9 CM's at the club .

i feel we're pretty well covered in central defense somehow. Kelly, Carra, Agger and Skrtel for this season plus Kyrgiakos for back-up. Flanagan and Kelly can play on the right while Johnson played really well when deployed on the left. and there's Robinson too.

i agree with you about the cluster-fest in central midfield though. there's just too many and i'm hoping to see Poulsen, Aquilani and Spearing be sold. and the transfer window hasn't been closed yet so i'm sure there'll be 4 more signings coming in. and so far so, everything has been positive, we may have lost out on certain players but there's no certainty that we were in for them anyway.

Its typical Benny the gloom mate just ignore him.

He may have failed at Rangers Benny but as far as i am aware he played mostly left midfield and isnt a wide player.
His pass completion was alot lower than our midfielders last season but anyone that has seen him play knows that he does look for defence opening long passes.
Some work some dont.
He does have a very good range of passing, i am sure anyone who watched him last season would agree with that.
The second half of last season when the whole Blackpool team struggled i felt he still did well, not sure of stats but he was still scoring goals at the end of the season definitely.

too be frank, i didnt see Jones played and he did choose mancs didnt he. he is a fan or something.

how many of us heard of Wickham? how many of us will sign a 18 yrs old for 8mil to 12 mil with no league experience?

Young or Mata? i choose Mata with my eyes close, n we may have still a chance to sign him.

case closed.

The problem is, people are being critical before we have completed our signings.
If the window closed tomorrow then i would agree with Benny and the others that are not happy with our signings and squad building this summer.
But it doesnt and i think the manager and comolli deserve the right to go about there business without all this criticism until we reach the end of the window.

We're trying to build a squad here FFS.  Adam is a very good addition.

Henderson is only young and might not be a first teamer much this season, or maybe Kenny will play him on the right..
Aqua is too injury prone and lightweight and i imagine he'll be offloaded.
Poulsen will be offloaded if anyone will take him.
Meiriles is very good and i think we'll keep him, unless we need to sacrifice him for extra funds. (hope not).
Gerrard is still amazing but kenny is not stupid, there is a good chance his groin will give up on him at any stage.
Lucas will be stay along with Spearing + Shelvey.

What has Rafa got to do with anything ?

Yes we are trying to build a squad - but a balanced squad and we are nowhere near that currently . If Merieles doesn't go then Adam is just there to sit on the bench - it's a lot of money to spend on someone to warm the bench when we have such pressing needs elsewhere . By all means get another CM but sort other areas out first .

Still doesn't answer have people actually watched him and what he was like since Jan - what extra does he add to the squad - does he improve us ? No IMO .

As for Mata - wonderful player with a lot of intelligence and clever passing BUT he doesn't go out wide - he cuts inside all game long so that will be enough guy through the middle .
