We dont want to rush him back even if it is a big game to only lose him for longer. Look at what happened with Alonso.

Hope he gets sorted soon though. The team is missing him.

Liverpool 2 - Manchester Utd 0

Alonso and Kewell with the goals. Agger played the first half and Skrtel came on for him in the second.

Daniel Agger could be back in Liverpool's first-team squad for the home games with West Ham and Newcastle coming up next month.
The Danish centre-back has been sidelined since September after breaking a metatarsal at Portsmouth, failing with one comeback, but made a successful return to action in the reserves on Tuesday night.

Agger played the first-half of the second string's 2-0 win over Manchester United, before being replaced at the break by Martin Skrtel, who is also closing in on a first-team return.

Xabi Alonso and Harry Kewell also featured for Gary Ablett's reserves and scored the goals as the Reds put one over on their near rivals United, who also had Gary Neville making his latest comeback.

Speaking about the defender's return, Benitez said: "It was good for Agger to get some minutes on the pitch and we decided before the game that he would play the first half and Skrtel would play the second. Agger did well and now we will have to see how he is today.

The boss added: It will be good for us to have Skrtel and Agger available again because at the moment we have only Sami and Carra.

"It is important to have two players for every position.

"It was also good for us to see Kewell and Alonso because we know that they have quality."

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has today revealed that Daniel Agger is unlikely to play again this season.
The Danish defender will undergo surgery on his troublesome metatarsal injury early next week.

"It's a blow for Daniel but we want to get his problem sorted," said Benitez.

"We have defensive cover and Martin Skrtel is playing very well. Daniel will be back for next season."

I was really hoping that we would get to see him this season.  Hope the operation goes well, thank God Skrtel has been playing well.

Really hope that this is just a one off season for injury woes for Agger.  He is a young player with so much promise and it would be a shame if this becomes a constant nag on his career :(

Dan Agger will have no trouble slotting back into the side when he's fit. He IMO is better than Skrtel (not saying Skrtel is bad) so it'd be Agger and Carra at the heart of the defense next season and we'll win the league. :D
