Having read through this thread I am aghast at some of the early posts apposing the gesture. These people should be ashamed at their comments which showed they know nothing about basic humanity, respect, dignity or how football runs through and unites the whole city.

I thought it was fantastic, well supported and moving. I hope that it gave the family hope.

I have just registered on this Forum to do one post and one post only......

I am a season ticket holder for EVERTON in the park end and I sat and watched the game last night with my Kopite friend.

I would just like to express my thanks on behalf of all evertonians for the gesture for Rhys Jones, last night.

I think it was a very moving tribute and certainly one that you would not have expected. It just goes to show and highlight to the rest of the footballing world that YES we are rivals and YES we dont really like eachother on Derby Days..... but, despite all of this, we are all still SCOUSERS and its this type of bond within rivalary that makes our 2 clubs so great and makes Scouser, the best fans in the world!

Thanks again and good luck for the season!

I thought the tribute to poor Rhys and his family was amazing, unfortunately I regret I could not get to the game due to work commitments but as I watched it with a beer I had tears in my eyes after Z cars and when YNWA came on, Those people who objected to this need to take a hard look at themselves, a young boys life is far more important then football no matter how much you follow your team, I just hope justice is brought on the culprit and peace to his family as soon as possible, god only knows how hurt they are.

I though it was amazing when the players came out of the tunnel and there wasn't the normal roar, cheers and clapping but just You'll Never Walk Alone being sang so passionatly, not for the team but for the family of this young man. Amazing

Last night was different, it wasn't just a case of showng solidarity and support with 'one of our own' as some might inacurately put it, it was also about reminding people the poor little lad's killer is still out there and being protected by a wall of silence in the community.

Last night was as much about shaming people as it was about 'a gesture' IMO.

it still stuns me when i see Liverpool pull together like they did last night, shame it take something so sad to bring back community spirit, let hope it helps get the killer.

one thing i would like to add that there is still more community spirit in Liverpool most days than mosty of the uk.......and i am not from Liverpool (but have spent a lot of time there).
