Sami has been a great servant and is a legend in my opinion - comitted and a true red - deserves his run in the team, and his contract extension - Luv ya Sami !

I'd go along with that mate. I expected Sami to struggle a bit with the amount of games he's been playing this season but he's thrived with the unexpected responsibility that has come his way and I'd argue he has been our best defender. I'm made up he's signed for another year and he fully deserves it. Rafa does not write off defenders based on their age. He had Pellegrino and Carboni (or something similar) at Valencia and both were past 35-36. Also Sami has rarely suffered with injuries during his career so don't be surprised if we're discussing his new contract again this time next year.

Please don't mention Pellegrino in the same thread as one where people are shooting their loads over Sami, while I may not have such a love for Sami, he doesn't deserve any passing comparison with a player who was so :censored: for Liverpool

Just been having a mooch on the Uefa.com website. And unearthed this little clip of Sami doing a keepy-up challenge using headers. No idea how old this is btw.

Not bad though :D  Score was 74!

i love the lad.
i can't believe its been nearly 10 years since his arrivel :o
but what a player he has been and still is.
i just hope next season what with agger back and skertel now in the frame that he isnt going to be used only in carling cup and small league matches (if there is such a thing).

Not sure Agger will simply be an automatic choice after the way Sammy has played this season. Total professional and what a goal when it was really needed under max pressure against Arsenal. Wish we had a lot more like him!

- When a manager like Rafa gives him a new contract at the age of 33
- When a manager like Rafa gives him a starting place in a quarter final of Champions league
- When everyone thinks he's too old but he puts strikers like Adebayor in his pocket

.......then you know the guy (Sami) is a legend. End of  :buttrock

its only a couple of weeks/a month old...

there was an article on liverpoolfc.tv before it went up on uefa.com telling people to watch out for it.
