I think we're underestimating this game somewhat lads (and ladettes??...). Yes we've qualified but although we have to play the best teams at sometime but finishing top gives us so many advantages. Look at the various champions league groups and teams we could face (remebering that we are not protected from the same country pairing rule). Below are possible opponents and my opinion on who would be the best team to draw:

Group A:
1 - Bayern Munich
2 - Juventus

no preference, either team is tricky

Group B:
1 - Arsenal
2 - Ajax

Ajax

Group C:
1 - Barcelona
2 - Udinese / Panathinaikos / Werder Bremen

Fairly obvious

Group D:
Villareal / Lille / Manure / Benfica

Either, preferably not Manure

Group E:
AC Milan / Schalke / PSV

Schalke or PSV

Group F:
1 - Lyon
2 - Real Madrid

either and we're fcuked

Group H:
1 - Inter
2 - Rangers / Artmedia Bratislava / FC Porto

Any of the runners up, all beatable comfortably

Now although the possible last 16 could be one of many variations generally the runners up are an easier prospect. Rafa won't take this game lightly, yes he may rest certain players but you'll see a strong squad because our future opponents could effectively decide whether we'll be playing in the QF or not.

The Fifa World Club Championship is a mickey mouse cup designed to generate FIFA profits, Why do you think its in the Far East? Our efforts should be much closer to home.

Mate, if we can beat Milan, Juventus, Chelsea etc. I'm not really concerned who we play as long as it is not Barca.

I understand your viewpoint, but the world club championship is a fantastic opportunity to open up the lucrative far-east market and we shouldn't shirk it.We are already through in the competition and I don't think we should be concerned who we play next.

But as much as I don't think we 'fluked' the champions league last year. We cannot assume that we will always beat those teams.

The safer mentality is lets see how far we go one game at a time, and the easier the opposition the better chance of progressing. You have to remember we aren't invincible, all the teams we beat could beat us on another day - AC Milan didn't go 3-0 up luckily just like our response wasn't lucky.

All i'm saying is take one game at a time otherwise you set yourself up for a big fall. Rafa clearly has this mentality and I tend to agree. Success doesn't happen over night it happens with time

SCS, I believe that Rafa and the players will take this game very seriously, i know that some of the main players may be rested, but Rafa will want to win this game by all accounts.

The things that he may have said in the press is just a way of taking the pressure of the players, however, I believe that Liverpool FC will start the game on a high tempo and continue like this throughout. This will give some of the squad players a good chance to make an impact (I feel they will). Defence will be astute as ever.

It will be a first for any team,  Liverpool FC will get 4 past Peter Cech.

Liverpool FC 4 Chelsea 0.

Let's hope Traore can at least contain robben.  If not, then the rest of team better step up.
