come on nanny calm down

i know you are hurting from the loss but really your anger should be aimed at the team instead of a simpleton like me who knows nothing.

quite clearly i have the logic of a 5 year old and know nothing.

the fact i told this forum yesterday we would lose in the same cheesy way we always lose counts for nothing.

i use the word cheesy quite a bit thus making me cheesy.

chill out and don't get too upset over some cheesy guy like me calling some scousers cheesy.

Sickener of a result that, but we have to take it on the chin and come back from it.

The truth is that we played badly and against a team like United you get punished if you don't play well.  All it took was one piece of slack marking and we got done.  And it's got nothing to do with the zonal marking system that the idiots on sky were banging on about, it was just a lapse in concentration.

We created no chances because our big players didn't perform on the day, most notably Gerrard and Torres.  Kewell and Benayoun were also way below their creative best.  And once again, some credit to United, they have the best defence in the league this season and you have to play well to break them down.  We didn't.

It would be easy to turn on Kuyt after this game, like some of you have done already.  Fact is he hasn't been good enough all season, so there's no point picking on him after today.  He didn't play any worse or provide any less of a goal threat than he does most weeks.  My point is that the difference today was that the players we usually rely on - ie Torres and Gerrard - just didn't perform.  It happens.

In the overall scheme of things I think that realistically puts us out of the title picture.  10 behind Arsenal, 9 behind United and we've only picked up 2 points at home against the other top 4 sides.  It's not completely lost but we've left ourselves a mountain to climb now.  Now we need to show what we're made of and come back fighting.  And I don't mean the cup competitions - I want to see us fighting in the league.

i tell you what maybe you guys are right and i'm totally wrong.

maybe we should get behind benitez for the next 10 years and if we are lucky we will win the league...once.

the fact that manu will go pass our record 18 is not important.
the fact that the closer they get to it the less time the media seem have for liverpool, does not matter.

bookies, the media and even refs have all shown less respect to liverpool the closer manu get to behind top dog domestically .

we need to start winning now....

For all those who say Rafa needs time to build as it took Fergie 10 years ect.....well times have changed. Id be very surprised if any modern day club in the top for of their country is willing to back a manager over 10 years with money every season just becasue "it takes time". Im sure when FErgie was building his dynasty money wasnt being thrown around left right and centre so you can compare it to Rafa and modern day. With the money clubs spend these days, 3 years is about as good as youll get before the owners want a return. There is not a chance in hell the owners would give Rafa sveral more years before getting something back, its just not good business. Sorry if you dont like how that sounds but thats what footballs become these days.

sure... easier said than done...

you will sack rafa and who will you appoint?

tell me a way to build a team that's gonna definitely win the league NOW without spending 200-300 million pounds. If you can tell me that I will call Gillette and Hicks to sack rafa right now...

yeah so give him 3 years then... that's all I'm asking for... this is G&H's first season backing rafa with their money (and we spent about 25 million net only!).... give him 2 more years then... anything shorter than that IMO is a folly... all the work that rafa's been doing regarding recruiting promising youngsters will be gone down the drain... and the next manager will still need even more cash...

Yet again we lose to man u and i'll wont hear the end of this from my mates ......

Kewell had a shocking game ....
Kuyt is really bad and could not do a damn thing with the ball except lose the thing.....
Gerrard never gets into the big games .........
Torres was decent in the first half and never got a kick in the second half.....
Arbeloa is s**** and doesnt deserve to play at liverpool .....

Everyone else had a good game ........ 10 points behind arsenal will never catch them ...

Did Pepe have a save of note to make?

I thought it was a poor game that was there to be won, a couple of our players never played up to their usual standard, namely Kuyt & Kewell, that said Utd certainly never deserved all 3pts (again), thought our back 4 played well and  kept them quiet, they just seem to have an indian sign on us of late,
we will do well to get back into it after the other result, but there is a long way to go,
Does anyone else think that we should off load Kuyt and bring in  a new partner for Torres?

Same as it was a while back on here. Knee jerk reactions from half brained 'supporters' that shudnt be allowed near a keyboard let alone a football stadium. The whole game had maybe 3 half chances, 2 for us and 1 for them. Get a grip......... Rafa is - like it or not - headin the right way, clearin out dross and attemptin to bring in top players. Yes, I doubt players like Voronin will ever qualify as top player material, but the pot aint bottomless and sometimes you make do.
Arbeloa had Ronaldo sewed up thruout, and but for a little more luck we'd have been 2 up at half time.
This aint a bad side, maybe the best we've had in a helluva long time, so wind ur necks in those who wanna rip it apart and start again - thats gonna put us another 3-4 years behind.........again! We dropped 3 points, admittedly the worst scenario we could imagine, but thats all it is. The world will not finish tonight, unless Hicks and Gillette decide Rafa has to go!!  :sniffle

I went down the Casino last night to watch this one, and left tired and dissapointed. Cant blame Rafa for the lads display, he picked a decent looking side.

I thought our passing was woeful at times, and the boys looked nervous playing against United. Recently in more games than not the passing has been crisp and fluent, I thought at times yesterday they felt the ball was like a hot potato. Credit to United who defended in numbers, and were tough to break down, Gerrard needs to perform and put himself about against the other big three teams more. Torres never really got a look in, I think Man U snuffed him out the game and the service to him was non-exsistant.

On a brighter note I actually thought Ryan Babel looked very positive when he came on.
