but now talks are stalled becuase: (frmo skysports.com)

Fernando Morientes will wait to speak to new Real Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo before making a decision on his future.

Morientes was quoted on Liverpool's website as suggesting that he would join The Reds imminently because of his respect for manager Rafa Benitez.

However, the player's agent Gines Carvajal denied that Morientes has said such a thing, and insisted that any decision on leaving Real would wait until discussions with the club's new coach Luxemburgo.

"I can state categorically that Fernando has made no such declaration to either Liverpool's website or to an English newspaper," Caravajal told Radio Marca.

"There is a new coach and we will see what he thinks of the squad.

"I do not believe either the president or the club are going to sell a player without speaking with the new coach."

I dont think Morro will come to LFC with the new coach coming in at Real, could we be in for Beatie as Redknapp needs to bring in more squad players Henchoz,Igor are linked with moves there could do a cash plus player deal. :suspect:  :suspect:

I sense that we are in for a roller-coaster-ride on the transfer-market, probably just as nerve-wrecking as in the summer. IOW, it`s time for another dive in the medicine-cabinet  :O  I`ve got my fingers crossed for a Morientes-signing, and I think Benitez is just the man to close such a deal, but with all the smoke-screens, politics and media-speculations going on, I`m not gonna believe anything before they`ve officially signed

The price-tag on Beattie would probably be the same as the one on Morientes.. Imo Beattie would, at the best, be a decent cover for injured strikers in Liverpool, and not in a million years worth spending that amount of money on.

I think he could be a very good player with the quality of players that Liverpool have to play around him,cos lets face it no striker would do any good at Southampton at the mo. :suspect:  :suspect:

Morientes would be at the top of list for the right money, we need a 20+ a season striker rather than a 12 or 13 a season one, on the other hand if we could get 3 or 4 15 a season strikers and keep the midfield scoring then we'd be laughin

Would Morro score 20+ a season,we paid 14mill for Cisse and on his performances i dont think he would score 20+ at least Beatie has played in the prem and can deal with the more physical side of the english game. :grinning:  :grinning:

I would luv to see Morro sign i just think it seems more unlikely with the new Real coach arriving and that they also seem to be sticking out for £7mill.Also being 4th in the pecking order at Real is he worth that kind of money. :suspect:

as has been said before. the pecking order at real has nothing to do with talent.

So you go out with money in your pocket to purchase a Ferrari, when you get to the showroom, you see one you really like, that would fit perfectly into your garage at home. You want to pay £1m, but the showroom want a little more, then a new guy takes over at the showroom, and wants to keep the car for himself.

On the way home, you end up buying a Rover for the same price.

You see where I am coming from ?

I'd rather play Mellor up front than pay even £1m for Beattie....
