Coming up on Sky now that Clattenburg has been removed from the fixture list this weekend due to UEFA Cup commitments. No mention of him being punished or banned - just 'criticised'. Cynic in me wonders whether he actually was penned in to officiate in the UC before or after Saturday's game.

Either way, he does not deserve the amount of stick he's coming in for... I thought he did rather well!

To be honest they should of had one penalty. But we should still hav had ours and the red card was valid. Kuyt was trying to block the ball and didn't even hit the player so I think a yellow was fine.

"Rob Styles phoned Liverpool to apologise over a penalty against Chelsea, but if Clattenburg did the same, I wouldn't take the call," he said.

"You wonder whether they allow themselves to be influenced by the top four. Didn't Clattenburg go to Hong Kong with Liverpool for the Asia Cup this summer? Maybe he wants to be their friend."

"be thier friend" ?!

Did he really say that? I'd expect that from fans. Hell we were doing the same when Chelsea got their pen, but a manager? I used to think he was a decent manager but implying that just cos the ref was involved in the asia comp makes him our best bud is very childish.

Won't argue with that. What annoys me most is that because Ronaldo is an evil foreigner, the media picks up on it more.

English players are saints of course.
