Will be interesting to see if Crouch is used much, if at all, in this game and the games in the coming weeks.   I think his boney rump will be on the bench more than any of our other strikers.  I`ve a feeling he`ll get more miffed off as the season progresses and decide he wants a `new challenge`.  Anyway tough away game at Portsmouth and one we will win if we play well.  A draw wouldn`t be so bad but would be nice to kick on and leave the rest in our wake.

Prediction 0-2

Finnan   Hypia    Agger  Arbeloa

Pennant  Alonso Masherano Babel

              Kuyt
                      Torres

looks good 2 me

possibly crouch instead of kuyt, players always play better against there old clubs

Kuyt       Torres       Babbel

Reds to march on with a 2 -0 win, maybe Kewell on for last 20 mins!

You cannot seriously think we will play 4-3-3 away from home?

Also since when is Marcus Babbel playing for us again~? :D

i knew he was injured/ill for a long time, but surely this can't be his come back  :D

I'd happily settle for three points from this game.

I'd go for:

Reina

Finnan
Hyypia
Agger
Arbeloa

Pennant
Sissoko
Alonso
Riise

Kuyt
Torres

???

I didn't say we didn't NEED to win, I said that I would be satisified with a point considering that Portsmouth:

a) have a good record against top sides. Man Utd have struggled there, as have Arsenal and we only got a point out of them last year
b) Harry's sides in general seem to have our number away from home

And so on and so forth.

Yah, a draw would be acceptable.

Pompey are a decent team, especially when they play at that cowshed of a ground.

With that stupid bell.

Definitely need to win this if we're gonna push on after a brilliant start.

If Gerrard plays on Wednesday, I can see Rafa resting him.

Reina

Arbeloa
Hyypia
Agger
Riise

Pennant
Alonso
Mascherano
Babel

Kuyt
Torres

Would be a team more than capable of beating Portsmouth.

Also gives us the flexibility to push into a 4-3-3 if requires by subbing out Pennant for Momo.

Traditionally we've not done well in games post internationals..... now's the time to reverse that trend.

I'd forgotten about that, good point . So with Gerrard resting (on the bench ?) and Mascherano jet lagged we're left with a So and So central pairing , Alonso and Sissoko.

.......... A so and so pairing thats as good as any other cm combo in the league!!!!!!

we'll win no worries, second half goals from kuyt & alonso

0-2
