Wasn't Kenny Dalglish mentioned earlier in the week in the media?

Good point, but then Bridge, Makalele and Mutu, not to mention Crespo, are either potential top-class players or already international class.

I actually feel sorry for Ranieri in a way. When he joined Chelsea he was joining a club with financial limits, possible problems, and with no more realistic ambition than to finish in the top 3 and get into the CL. Abramovich joins and he's suddenly got to win the league or the CL or he's out.

As to the original post, I'd go for Ronald Koeman, then O'Neill. The idea of bringing Dalglish back, if there's any substance to the rumour, smacks of the worst kind of sentimental complacency that's been holding this club back for the last decade.

Keegan has never really proven himself in the Premiership despite nearly upsetting the mancs in the mid-90s

To be honest most of those mentioned would be no better than Houllier.

I think there are only a handful of managers out there who could lead Liverpool to the Champioship, and most of them are untouchable.

There is only 1 man for the job and that is Martin O Neill. The man is a genius and has had success at every club.He is also out of contract in the summer and is asking celtic board for cash for 6 or 7 new players he knows they will not give him.I think he is getting bored up there and will find it very hard to replace larsson. He has plenty of experience in prem with leicster and even won a cup with them which took some doing. They also never finished outside the top 10 when he was in charge and the season after he left they got relegated. He has also proved over last 2 years he can cut it in europe as he took a highly motivated team of average players to the final of uefa cup along the way beating us.This season they were unlucky in champs lge and then beat barca who were on a long unbeaten run in uefa cup.He has shown throughout his career he can get the very best out of alot of average players which we are stuck with now.I would be very surprised if he turned down the job as it would be ideal for him.He is the best choice by some distance and I believe him coming would mean a return to the glory days when we would have a team we can be proud of.The board need to wake up and get him quick before somebody else does.

I thnk MO'N has to be first choice and as anfield adorer said a good chance of coming to England next season. I would also like to see Jose Mourinho of Porto, he is a very talented young manager, dislikes fergie and has built Porto into one of the best sides in Europe. He may also be able to persuade the likes of Deco, Carvalho and others to come with him.

Jose Mourinho would be my first choice! MON would be good but still not a proven manager at top level.
