I know Traore is something of a comedy figure at the club, but regardless of this, he played a role in the CL winning team.

It would be nice that, whilst its ok to mock him, people at least paid some tribute to his contribution to the club during the CL winning season. Ridiculing Cheyrou et al is all good and well, he made no contribution to the club - but Traore got his long gangly legs round some crucial balls last season (not mine! :D) and I think he deserves some credit - not outright mockery. Thank him for his work, then you can take the pi$$.

Makes you think about what qualities he needed but couldnt aquire. Footballing brain, technique, touch, positional sense, passing ability. With one or two of these extra attributes maybe he could have been a great player, without them he was a liability. All the best to Traore but not before time.

Have to seriously disagree with one point there.  And you're not the only one to have stated this.  Traore is NOT good in the air.  People assume because he is tall he is good in the air, when the fact is that he can't jump, can't get any power into headers and can't direct them either.

In fact I clearly remember a game when SWP consistently beat Traore in the air.  It was embarrassing.

However his main shortcoming is his positional sense.  It was non-existent and this is what forced him into making a lot of mistakes and putting the other defenders under pressure.  Watch Traore against Chelsea at Anfield this season for a tutorial of 'how not to play left back'.

Don't get me wrong I appreciate that the guy always gave 100%, but we can't afford to be sentimental here, he was never good enough.
