I didn't suggest it because "we need a left back" we don't, we need a left back like we need a replacement for Carragher.

But the fact is, Cole is a top class player and better than what we have and when players that good become available, we've got to have a look even if we truely need them or not.

Finnan has earned his spot pernametly at right-back, which is a position I think we're alright in.

These are definitely the positions we'll be getting new players for plus rafa might increase the depth in the squad with a midfielder and a striker maybe.

Obviously, we need a left winger as Riise switch to left back is a better choice. Go for Vicente.

I would say striker. Especially if Baros goes, we were thin on the ground after Cisse broke his leg and Morientes was cup-tied and we sold Owen and Mellor got injured. Cisse and Morientes are good, but we need a third top-striker. Sinama-Pongolle and Mellor are good for the odd game but not for covering a major injury.

I question the value of signing Crouch, how good can a striker be from a freshly relegated team. Its like hiring the Titanic's navigator for the Queen Mary II.

Goals win matches, if he hasn't been scoring enough for them, then his confidence is down which doesn't do him much good as a striker.
