Threads evolve SS to the point your fellow mod was also talking about a player from a rival club

It's all part of a natural flow when talking about squads in the prem. People use other players and other squads as comparison - it's not secretly admiring them.

Is fourth acceptable?

I think after a plethora of finishes around 6th/7th and 8th place over the last 5 years if we did get 4th not only would it be acceptable but celebrated!
We have got to be realistic here, Chelsea and City are two leviathans (who's wealth has warped the league) leaving some of the biggest and oldest clubs in Europe fighting it out for just 2 CL places (Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton)
If we manage to grab one of those 2 remaining CL places it will be a magnificent achievement. Let's not forget here that the likes of Arsenal and United have each recently spent £40m on just one player and spurs spent more than £100m last summer.
