Mr. Whelan, the owner of Wigan FC, was so upset by the defeat at Anfield that he decided not to buy "Wigan's Mightee Fine Fish And Chips And Pork Sausages" shop, which would have consolidated his Wigan-based business empire.

Just in case there is someone left out there who hasnt yet said it......"I knew Peter Crouch was going to score tonight"
Seriously, some of the best football I have seen this season from our lads in the first half tonight. Crouch must also win plaudits for his deft touches and flicks to team mates. Absolutely superb at times!

People, apart from the euphoria all of feel for Crouch and the clean sheet victory, what did Harry Kewell, bloody 65,000 pounds a week Harry Kewell, did in the Wigan match? I saw this game live on ESPN in my parts of the world.
Surely I watched the right match?
I saw Garcia, getting on to passes, trying to do hid things, sometimes losing possession but tracked back to do his share of defending. He even dispossessed a Wigan player with a successful tackle. Even Morrientes tracked back and helped. Crouch always does his fair share.
Kewell? Apart from that missed volley, he did not attempt to make any real off-the-ball run to entice defence splitting passes from the likes of Alonso or Gerrard or the others, he also did not track back. He was slow to join the attacks and slower still to help out in defence.
This guy is a first class w@nker. No work rate at all.
