Exit Michael Owen 8 million, enter Fernando Morientes 9 million.....um no......the direction of the finances and the talent appear to be contradictory imo.

I think you've have become the laughing stock of the day.
We got 8 million pounds plus Antonio Nunez who was valued 3-5 million by Real Madrid. So do the math:
8 + 5 = 13 million max.
8 + 3 = 11 million min.
Considering that Owen was almost out of contract, 11-13 million is not bad at all. So no we are not the laughing stock of Europe as we couldn't had recieved anymore for Owen because he was almost out of contract.
