He makes Djimi Traore look like Alan Hansen.

Talking of Traore, when was the last time we had a really top quality left-back? Carra was good in 2001, but obviously not a natural. Are we looking all the way back to Alan Kennedy or maybe Jim Beglin?

Or am i forgetting someone. And don't mention Ziege

Glad to hear that the gaffer isn't going to panic buy someone, just because JC is out. IF we need another defender, it's better to just wait for the next transfer window and find the right player, as someone has already mentioned. Furthermore we've got the international break coming up, so hopefully we won't miss JC for that many games anyway.

Steve Staunton? and to a lesser point Rob Jones? although played out of position still a quality player.
