A liverpool Great, if ever there was one.  Be sadly missed.

YOU know who I've got in the back of this car, son? The future Liverpool and England captain.'
Bill Shankly's now infamous quip to a policeman in 1967, hours after signing 19-year-old Emlyn Hughes, could have been another example of his comic exaggeration.
Instead, it proved to be the legendary Scot's most accurate prophecy.

It’s doubtful if anyone who has worn the Liverbird upon their chest has played with more spirit and drive for the club than Emlyn. It was this spirit, drive and will to win that saw him fight so bravely for 16 months against the brain tumour ravaging him.

Emlyn Hughes Liverpool Stats
Appearances: 657
Goals: 48
Honours with LFC: 2 European Cups, 2 UEFA Cups, 4 League Championships, 1 FA Cup, 59 England Caps
Football Writers Player of the Year: 1977

I just watched ky News.  They showed the clip of Emyln Hughes lifting the european cup at Wembley in 1978.

This sad day brings back memories of when football was the working mans game, footballers were loyal to their clubs, could relate to the fans and Liverpool ruled europe.

Every one of Benitez' squad must be reminded of the courage and dedication shown to Liverpool F.C. by Emyln Hughes.  How we could do with somebody like him in the current team.

Emyln Hughes R.I.P. Thanks for the memories.  You will never be forgotten.
