Losing Duff remains the single biggest failure of the Houllier regime. This is a young guy who is possibly the greatest player in the world in his position,he can play equally well on the right side of the pitch,he rarely has a bad game(unlike Harry who has bad seasons),he is a Liverpool fanatic(so much so that he described his booing at anfield last season as the lowest point in his career),he is the ultimate professional and i hope Rafa rights a major wrong during the transfer window.

I agree greenred, although i heard we would have had to fork out £17 million which we couldn't afford, so we went with Harry for £3 million.

Houllier was a bad business man. Had he been a good business man he wouldn't had bought worthless players for a huge amount of money. [example: Diouf] Instead we could had bought the likes of Duff.

to be fair halso signed good players like Sami, Baros, Hamann, Henchoz, Riise. Litmanen, McAllister and i would consider Kewell as a good signing, although he hasn't perormed to the best of his ability while here.

go for shaun wright phillips if we want some value buy. but maybe now he's in the 12-15m range. right?
scott parker isn't good enough for every team except charlton because there are where he comes from.
bowditch should in our reserve team probably in january.

Um, 3 centre backs and a full back ??? interesting back line...

As for me

T Henry (if Gallas counts as British then so does Henry :p)
C Ronaldo (see above)
D Duff (though if Rafa can get Vicente I'd rather the latter)
S Downing
M Dawson

I can't see any of those guys you mention as reasonable candidates. They are either to expensive (L King, one of the stupids in here think he is worth £ 12 mill vs. Gallas at £ 4 mill. That speaks volumes), unavailable(Campbell, Ferdinand) or just not good enough(Dawson a substitute in Notts F, Parker, SW Phillips, etc.)

If we wan't british we have to produce them at the academy.

stuart downing. know the lad. pure class. sven looks like he'll give him a run on the left side in the friendly against spain next month. if he keeps playing well for boro he'll be england's next left winger for the next ten years. :)

Seeing as though someone's widened the envelope to include Gallas, I figure that including someone that's spent their entire professional career in the Prem isn't too big a leap. And although I'd love to see Terry at Anfield, I'm sure you'd agree that of the two Duff is far more likely to make the move.

As I've said time and time again, Fowler would be a cracking signing at this stage. He'll be incredibly cheap, and is still more than capable of changing a game given the right surroundings. And LFC has always been the right surroundings for him.

sorry ivor, fowler's finished. his heart's not in the game anymore. i wouldn't be surprised if he retired in the next two years to be honest. :(
