Vieira said that SG is better than him,
then he benefited playing with a lighter loads in the fields.

Gerrard is at the position now that Keane was at ten years ago.Its a bit unfair comparing them with each other now.How different would our recent history be if Souness had been given the money to buy Keane in 1993.The board thought 3.7million was too much money so they splashed out on nigel clough instead. The rest as they say is history.

didn't souness turn down the chance to sign cantona aswell? as for nigel clough, that was another fine waste of money,  although he did score twice in the 3-3 draw against manure. one of the best games i've been to as a lfc fan. :)

not hindsight woof woof.Ferguson and Souness both knew Keane was the best young midfielder in Britain.I remember being gutted that we didnt want to buy him.Souness only admitted later that he had asked for the money but was refused by the board.

So did Dalglish who agreed for Keane to join Blackburn He also tried to buy Gascoigne, imagine those two together

I think what anfieldadorer meant by "then he benefited playing with a lighter loads in the fields" was that Viera was playing mind games with Gerrard, openly saying that Gerrard is better than he is and trying to get Gerrard to believe this and carry this thought into the game.

Some sort of reverse psychology usually played by Fergie and Wenger. I don't know if it worked or not but overall, Viera was clearly the better player on the night.

For the topic of the thread, I believe Viera is still better than Gerrard as Gerrard sometimes get his decisions and actions horribly wrong, like that suicidal back pass to James at that time which led to the penalty.

He is still very young, with still much to learn from getting more experience and compared to Viera he takes much more risks in his passing and covers more ground. Viera is more disciplined in staying at his post and perhaps reads the game better.

Thanks azri, but I assume woofwoof and stmichael could actually get what i meant.

We once saw a player who used to play with a heavy loads, he was Chris WADDLE. :D
