Guus Hidink and Eto's team.

Know nothing about Anzhi Makhachkala other than that.  Looks a pretty interesting group.  At least it won't be a snoozer.

FC Anzhi Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan closer to India than it is to England

Is it safe to play there? Weren't they forced to play a "home" game in another stadium not long ago?

decent challenging group. Should be good preparation for our young group of players going to tough stadiums like those of Udinese and Anzhi... With the Champions league coming up next season and all...

Last I heard was that Anzhi's home stadium is in a war zone (or very close to one) and they have to fly in for the games and then straight back out again. Hopefully this one will get moved to MOscow or somewhere a bit nearer.

I bet Thomas Cook won't be running one of their over priced day trips there for that game!!

Thats all we need is a trip to Russia, on a cold Thursdays winters night with a game on the weekend!

Plus a game against some young boys.

Youth team anyone?

It's really not a good draw for us right now. We couldn't have done much worse in the draw for pot 2 and Anzhi in pot 4 was the one team everyone didn't want to get.

Given our squad depth, I think Rodgers will have to play more of his senior players than he would've liked, and offer less competitive football to some of the youngsters. We can qualify from the group, but I don't see us topping it.
