how the feck have you 900 channels on your TV ? what kind of a package have you ? and what does that cost ?
Me - I believe the dodgy boxes can allegedly give you access to all the pay per view channels for the cost of a basic cable subscription....apparently ! :p  :p
Well, that was until the cable operators over here encrypted it to the extent that there's no hack currently available for the encryption protocol they're using.
The options we have here for the basic terrestrial channels PLUS the Sports channels are outrageously expensive....and there's no way I'd pay SLY the money they're asking....
So.....I sorted me laptop with some software the other day and watch games live on the WWW....it's not perfect but it does the job....

GYBS wrote:its to protect the clubs and ensure fans keep going to the matches , so they decided long time ago to never televise on english telly any 3pm kick offs - i am in total agreement with it as well .

i don't think it would stop fans going to the top teams but lower team would be hit big time if they started to show them at 3pm, it is a shame though as it would be a lot better for those who are not able to get to the ground

i do agree with gybs, that is should stay the way it is but i think if there was a change it would hit the lower teams more than the likes of us, chavs, ars and scum

i don't think we would have any problem filling are ground each week even if it was going to be shown on tv, the people who go to the games know what a buzz it gives and watching it at home does not give you that same buzz so there would be some that would think feck it it's on tv but i don't think there would be that many from are club

well i would like to think so anyway

Who cares about spain bar the top two over there not every game is a sell out - - yes the top clubs would still sell out no matter what - but what about the clubs below that that dont sell out every week ? they would loose more fans by it on telly . 3pm games should stay non televised - and keep the game traditional . there is plenty of football on telly as it is . the game was born to be watched in the stadium .

actually the game was born to be watched around a cow field originally :D

Since TV has too much control over football scheduling, I think the intent of not televising 3pm matches has been negated. Now you can watch two matches on a Saturday, one at lunchtime and one at teatime. As they are often Premiership matches then you will invariably develop more "Premiership fans" who disregard their more local clubs or simply can't afford the time or money the long round-trips to see their side play require.

So now you can't watch footy on TV at 3pm on a Saturday, but you can at :

Sat 12.45
Sat 17.35
Sun 13.30
Sun 16.00
Mon 20.00
Tue 19.45
Tue 20.00
Wed 19.45
Wed 20.00
Thur 19.45

and I'm sure there's quite often a Friday slot, for conference football? So you could watch eight or nine TV games a week, how is that going to make people go at 3pm Saturday because there isn't a match televised then? s*y and Sultana simply exploit demand, fill the schedules and I doubt they care that they can't show football in ONE timeslot a week. You can find it quite rare to get more than four or five Premiership matches on a Saturday at 3pm, some of that due to UEFA competitions midweek.

I may be wrong, but aren't the TV channels required to show each team a certain number of times this season? Could they be changing our fixtures due to the teams we're playing not having been shown live often enough? Although with the number of televised games you'd think they must have enough to have met any such requirements by now

As for the changes to accommodate TV, surely consumer watchdogs should clamp down on any rescheduling of matches done within X weeks of the fixture itself. Some fans do have to make alternative arrangements, even local fans might have other commitments such as work that fit in with the original but not rearranged fixture.

I fully concur with that sentiment....
Many people can't afford to simply throw away the cost of flights, a hotel, train fare, a bite to eat etc., often made months in advance in an attempt to keep costs down, when the media moguls decide to change the date on a whim. And that doesn't include the cost of the match day ticket...
I for one need to plan these dates long in advance, and with a couple of kids, need to line somebody up to mind them as well, or make alternative arrangements if the missus is doing something else...
