not a bad list at all imo.. probably slot puyol in ahead of pepe and maybe reina in for akinfeef but looks a decent list overall... as for ferdinand being ahead of gerrard.. in terms of contribution given the position they play in id agree with that ranking... won the league and championsleague and best defense in the championship so.... why not ?!

that's the problem... IMO Gerrard contributes to the team far more than Ferdinand... and won the league and CL with the best defence? so he did that all on his own didn't he?

ssorry but i dont get your point... going by your logic none of the players above deserve to be in the list in the first place...
Gerrard is huge for liverpool but so is ferdinand for manutd and same with every other player for their respective club or national team... ferdinand won 2 major awards while gerrard won fck all last year so obviously ferdinands done something right !

And how do you measure ferdinands contribution to his team ? goals ? assists ? .. for a team that plays 4 midfielders who are all pretty attack minded and the way they attack with numbers i think theyr defenders are doing brilliantly in terms of goals conceded !

boruc, pepe and cassano should not be in a list that fills the top 5,000,000 players in the world. whoever wrote this list needs to either watch a match or not take football manager 08 as gospal

ill give you pepe..
Cassano is one of the best footballers in the world... at his best i think he'd probably be one of the best 5 players in the world easily...
Boruc had a wonderful Euro and he'd been doing well for Celtic and hes a ery good goalkeeper so i understand why hes in there... all about contribution to their clubs and national sides and Boruc won the league with his club and did very well with his national side so why not ?!

hes an excellent footballer.. in terms of pure footballing talent he's up there with the messis and ronaldos of this world... he can play anywhere up the pitch and has a great shot and final pass on him... his attitude let him down throughout his career but i doubt many would argue his ability on a ball..
Dont know if you watch any italian footie but hes playing with sampdoria now and basically EVERY SINGLE MOVE has to go through him at least once or twice before turning into something decent..
He's been brilliant with Roma and probably his partnership with Totti was the reason they dominated the Italian league at some point playing the best football in Europe at the time..
In terms of contribution to his club and their success i think hes done more to samp. than any player has done to their club last season so i cant see much wrong in him being in that list

I've seen him play for Madrid, Italy and briefly when he was at Roma, and there's no fucking way he's one of the top five players in world football.

I grant you, he has a decent amount of raw ability, but he's nowhere near the very best.  Creative, yes, in any huge, amazing, unprecedented way? No. He's far from prolific and has a sh!t attitude.
