Acid test this, its not going to be easy. But if we've got title aspirations these are the games we need to win. If we carry on playing the way we have been though I think three points will be inevitable.

Now I'd start him every single game if he's fully fit but after he plays on Wednesday, is he up to playing 3 games in a week (England, England, Liverpool) at a high level, especially after his injury lay off?

Don't forget Porto away on Tuesday. That may also influence team selection.

- the scum mclaren rests hargreaves and carrick against Israel. And plays Gerrard who isn't 100% fit. You can be sure Gerrard will start against Russia. Seems Mclaren is only looking out for scums.

Too true. I havent got a nice word to say about the ginger kunt.

it's a fair point.

for example we may well see crouch starting away at porto. despite these foreign refs clamping down on him in europe, his goalscoring record in the CL is phenomenal when he plays.

Porto....another opportunity for Rafa to have a look at Quaresma!!!!...Yeah these are the kind of games where Crouch could shine.

                Reina

Arbeloa  Hyypia    Agger   Riise

Mascherano   Alonso  Sissoko

Kuyt       Torres       Babbel

Reds to march on with a 2 -0 win, maybe Kewell on for last 20 mins!

You cannot seriously think we will play 4-3-3 away from home?

Also since when is Marcus Babbel playing for us again~? :D

I would be happy with a point from this game considering the circumstances. [early kick off, international break, etc.]

I expect Portsmouth to play their usual tactic of parking a bus in front of their goal and then trying to hit us on the break. We can't afford to drop points against these type of teams if we are to maintain our challenge, so a strong midfield with 3 strikers 2 of whom are also pretty comfortable playing down the channels is my solution. (maybe not Rafa's) Maybe I'm just "Babbling"  :D

Finnan   Hypia    Agger  Arbeloa

Pennant  Alonso Masherano Babel

              Kuyt
                      Torres

Thinking about it, maybe Mascherano wont be included for this game as he will only get back from Australia on Friday :( . Argentina won 1 -0 BTW

Worst case senario, Finnan isn't fit, Mascherano is too jet lagged, Gerard is too tired and injured, Carra isn't fit.   Good news that Aurelio played 45 minutes against Crewe, but if he still isn't prem match fit and I don;t think Kewell is eiher:
                    Reina
Arbeloa   Hyypia     Agger     Riise
Pennant   Momo    Alonso      Babel
              Crouch   Kuyt
