LETO CLEAR TO MAKE DEBUT
Paul Eaton in Rotterdam 02 August 2007
Sebastian Leto has been given permission to make his Liverpool debut during this weekend's Port of Rotterdam tournament.
The Reds face Shanghai Shenua on Friday and then Feyenoord on Sunday as they complete their pre-season preparations.

Argentinian left sided player Leto has endured a frustrating wait to get his Liverpool career underway but manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed he will figure over the next few days.

"He will be able to play in Holland," confirmed Benitez today. "Leto will travel with the squad and we have permission to play him in these games.

"It's good news for him because it's not easy when you're only training. You want to play in the games."

The Reds will train as normal on Thursday before flying out to Holland on Friday morning.

"We will travel to Holland on Friday because we don't need the players to go too early and this will allow us to train as normal today," explained Benitez.

"The main idea is prepare as well as possible for the first Premiership game against Aston Villa."

Grow taller than Crouch? He's huge for a left-sided player.

Bad Bob wrote:With all the hype surrounding Torres and Babel so far this summer, how funny would it be to have Leto and Voronin emerge as true gems (as well)?  I would love for one of these lads to be another Sissoko: arrive with very little fanfare and quickly establish themselves as truly invaluable members of the side.  Hey, it could happen. :D

Based on the Voronin prediction, I am expecting Leto to unseat Kewell on the left with 5 or 6 goals tommorow   :D

Very impressed with him today, don't wanna judge from one game but if he produces this type or performance from now on I'm sure he'll being a first team regular in the coming seasons, he didn't look phased in his first game for one of the biggest clubs in the world :)

Meanwhile, it’s emerged Sebastian Leto’s availability for this weekend’s Rotterdam tournament was due to special dispensation, not the conclusion of his passport application.

Leto, who started against Shanghai last night, still won’t be free to join the Reds officially until he’s granted European status.

It was earlier thought the 20-year-old left winger had been given the all-clear from the authorities, but he’s only been given the green light to play as a triallist for the time being.

i was impressed he has quick feet, but if i had a negativity it was his crossing yesterday, but he is young and has a lot of potential
