well i am not sure i can even say this. this is a none game, yes it would be nice to keep 3rd but the CL game must come first.
I am not always sure its a good idea to rest your best players before a big game as it often seems they make a slow start the next time they play.
The last thing i would like to see is any of our top player get hurt and miss the CL.

0-0

From the BBC

Portsmouth defenders Sol Campbell (Achilles) and Linvoy Primus (knee) are hopeful of passing late fitness tests.

Svetoslav Todorov (knee) is still out but Sean Davis (virus) is available, while Glen Johnson could be recalled.

Liverpool rest a string of senior stars ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Chelsea.

Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Jose Reina have not even travelled while Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger are unlikely to figure in the side.

Portsmouth (from): James; Lauren, Primus, Campbell, Stefanovic, O'Neil, Davis, Hughes, Taylor, Benjani, Kanu, Johnson, LuaLua, Traore, Pamarot, Kranjcar, Mvuemba, Ashdown.

Liverpool (from): Dudek, Arbeloa, Paletta, Hyypia, Riise, Zenden, Sissoko, Mascherano, Pennant, Bellamy, Kuyt, Fowler, Crouch, Padelli, Gonzalez, Anderson, Alonso, Agger

Portsmouth are 1 point away from UEFA Cup football.

They've got that to play for.

Portsmouth are 2-1 with the bookies

From that I'd play

                   Dudek

Arbeloa        Hyypia    Agger     Riise

Anderson    Mascherano   Sissoko  Gonzalez

               Fowler     Bellamy
