what about ranieri or curbishley

In my opinion neither Ranieri or Curbishly are good enough for a club like us.  We should be going after the best, Capello, Lippi, Ferguson, Wenger!  Realistically though, we are probably going to have to take a punt on someone with a lot of potential.

Of the managers around with potential, i think MON is the best.  I would still like to see someone who has played for the club given a chance though, so i think of the managers around that would be (in no particular order):

John Toshack
Kevin Keegan
Kenny Dalglish
John Barnes
Steve Macmahon
Jan Molby
Mark Wright

Give us a hand thinking of some others around either currently managing or between jobs.  Bring back Kenny!

You have to be kidding.

I've been following McMahons, Wrights and Molby's careers and they haven't done much in the lower leagues.

Barnes is not management material, Keegan would be a joke and Dalghlish's day is long gone.

Toshak is a journeyman manager in Spain.

O'Neill is my choice...

Thompson in the interim until a better candidate is available. We're going nowhere with Houllier, we may as well have Thommo in charge and see what he can do until a suitable replacement can be secured

You mightn't like Paul Ince but the lad always tried his best and he had bottle. The great quote about Tommo from Incey was
"All Thommo does is shout his mouth off, he doesn't coach. A few years ago Thommo was slagging off the lads at Liverpool as a TV pundit. He should realise that coaching is not about swearing at players, and that's all he does. I'd love to hear something constructive from him, but all you get is effing this, effing that"     Incey 1999
Add this to PTs favourite put down on the training pitch -"How many caps have you got?" You can get a picture of a man who wouldn't have got into the England team if he hadn't of been playing for Liverpool but just doesn't realise it !

Thommo is a non-starter his ego cost us God and he'd do it again rather than admit when he's wrong (does anyone else have a wry grin at the "sit down pinnochio chants"...?!?).

I agree that if Houllier goes then Thommo should go too but Sammy and Joe have done nothing wrong. I love watching the little fella's pre-match warm up routines.

MoN's the only practical and logical choice imho..... :D

Fair enough lads, i'll concede that maybe it is time for a complete fresh look at the running of the club.  We have had plenty of old boys in over that last 10 or so years in Souness, Evans and Thompson and it hasn't done us much good.  My vote would go to MON.  We should break the bank for him if necessary. :D

Gus hiddink ,maybe. But a big no way !!!! to strachan and reid. As for sparky who wants an ex manu player managing us?
My first choice would be O'Neil followed by Venables YES I said Venables, coached at the highest level and generally has the respect of all players,

Agree that Hiddinck is potentially suitable and that Monkey's Heed Peter Reid is a definite no-no however Sparky Hughes is a possible good shout and I definitely think that Venables is too much of a slippery cnut to be trusted with our beloved club.... :D
