Manhattan would like to know what justification there is for Mourinho to be referred to as "The Special One"?

Let's set aside the two Premierships he's won for a moment.

It's impossible to judge whether this is because of his own tactical and coaching skills because he's never been in a situation where he hasn't had Abramovich's limitless resouces to back him up, and even without the Russian's money, it's not like winning the title would make Jose anymore "special" than Sir Alex, Arsene Wenger, or any previous manager to lead his team to the title.

He's won the UEFA Cup. So what? Rafa won the UEFA Cup.

He's won the Champions League. So what? Rafa won the Champions League.

He won the Portuguese league. So what? Rafa won La Liga, which is considered a superior league.

He won the Carling Cup. So what? Steve McClaren won it too. Does this mean McClaren is a "special one" too?

He won the Community Shield. So what? Rafa did too.

He hasn't won the FA Cup. Rafa has.

He is outspoken. So what? So was Brian Clough, who made more sense that Jose ever did.

"The Special One" was a nickname Jose gave to HIMSELF.

That's the hilarious thing about it. He's a legend only in his own mind.
