Sterling will never be as dangerous for the oppo as Coutinho. Coutinho can beat you with the dribble, and also make that killer through pass... Sterling is faster and can also beat you with the dribble, but his passes are very ordinary. I'm afraid sterling can become a very one dimensional player...

maybe he'll pick up a few things off Coutinho and Suarez. As another poster said, he's just 18 and still learning his trade

hopefully so... But I've never ever seen a player develop new skills. It's either you have it or you don't especially things like vision, timing and weight of the pass. Players refine the skills they already have but don't really ddevelop New ones imho...

I don't think we've seen everything from Stirling's locker...i think he has more to show, but struggled with burn out this season as we relied on him far too much. With a bit of luck (and a new player, like Ince)  I think we'll be able to rotate our wingers a bit more and get the best out of the younger guys.

Hope to see him in action for Brazil in next year's World Cup.

I think it was very much a case of expecting too much too soon from young Sterling. Becoming a regular 1st teamer then the England call looked like it was all a little too much. Don't forget his off the field antics as well. Proven to be no guilty but all of the above happened at the same time so that is without doubt why he encountered a tough time during the season.

That being said I see little or no comparison with him and Coutinho. Sterling is an out and out winger and I see Coutinho playing more central position - old fashion # 9 playing off the main striker - next season. Class act with a great tough, guile and an eye for the killer pass. An absolute steal at £8M!!

Also don't forget Jordan Ibe. When I compare his debut appearance against QPR and Sterling's debut against Wigan last season, Ibe looked more confident and impressive. Anyhow, having both these lads playing together can only be good for the future. Looking forward to see more of J.Ibe in first team action soon.

Never judge a player by his price tag, carving Stoke up time and time again. What a player :bowdown

There is no doubt about Coutinho's class... the management should be looking at renewing his contract and putting a release clause in there to safeguard its asset

He plays like half Barnes (good attacking player from the left wing) and half Dalglish (hits telling passes, great link up player and can bang in the goals). Hope he gets better as season progresses.
