Transfer news: Mascherano passes Anfield medical
West Ham’s want-away Argentinian world cup star Javier Mascherano has undertaken and passed his medical with Liverpool Football Club.

The player underwent his medical on Friday morning.
We also understand personal terms have been agreed and the transfer to Liverpool now rests on the relatively complicated international football rules preventing players playing for more than 2 clubs in a season.

Juventus pulled out of the race for the player earlier citing this as the reason ‘It won’t be possible for us to sign him. We have had to end our interest in him due to his complicated contractual situation,” said Juve sporting director Alessio Secco.

But this is for next season I think because of the way our squad is building but Fowler will be gone (probably retired),Crouch has to go because he just wants liverpool to play to his strenghts and there are not that many of them anyway, and there are rumours about Bellamy leaving plus Kuyt wastes too many chances so he can be no more than a squad player and Benitez hates Djibril Cisse which means Liverpool need 3 new strikers now I say break the bank for Villa bring in Darren Bent and Yakubu who are proven at premiership level and would cost a maximum £25m combined; Villa would cost £30m.

Then we need to replace Pennant with a winger who can beat a man, now I know on these boards Arjen Robben is like the plague but if Jose leaves he would be perfect for us as he can play both sides has a great left foot and on his day his better than Ronaldo at Man U then we should send Gonzalez on loan and bring in Morten Gamst Pedersen from Blackburn and he can compete with Garcia on the left flank with Risse.
Also we should sell Aurelio and Kewell because they are too prone to bad injuries.

Then we would have Lucas Neill to cover all positions in the back 4, JC and Agger in the centre then 2 from 3 (Finnan, Risse and Neill) for the Left-Back slot and the Right-Back slot.

Then in midfield Mascherano could play with Gerrard, or Alonso could with with Sissoko with Gerrard on the inside Right position.
Then Rotate the 4 strikers throughout the season (Kuyt, Villa, Yakubu and Darren Bent) with Robben and Pedersen on the wide positions.

  A sky fan if I ever saw one.

Hows championship manager going?

My referral to replacing Finnan was more based on his age than anything else.

We have a real problem at Left Mid now: Garcia and Gonzalez are hurt. Perhaps Aurelio could play there. I would really like to see Paul Anderson get a look in though.

I think signing Mascherano is a real mistake. He might be quality but from everything I have read he is flaky and a real :censored: (not in a good way like Bellamy). The last thing we need right now is more dead weight in our squad. I would rather see us go for (if bringing in a center midfielder) Joey Barton, Phil Jagielka, or Kevin Nolan. Players that will show up for work every day and refuse to intimidated.

Another point I would like to bring to the table is our youth system; it just is not working. There are two ways you can build a successful squad of young players: 1). give them first team football (trial by fire), 2). have a good scouting system and go for real quality (Fabregas, Eboue, Flamini, Walcott). Option 1 obviously is not feasable at a club as big as Liverpool. Our current strategy seems to be bringing in tons of decent young players and hoping that one or two will come good. It just doesnt work like that.

Flamini? He's another Phil Nevile at best.. :D

Mascherano would be a great signing for the terms that have banded about. A loan deal initially, then 4-6 million to make his transfer permanent if all goes well. I really hope this goes through. Hope we get an answer shortly..

That's how it is when I do my stand up routines.

Sometimes the hecklers miss, and sometimes they hit me.

Joey Barton, Phil Jagielka, or Kevin Nolan.  Not anymore talented than we already have.

Phil Jagielka is nowhere near good enough.
