On teletext it says the deal is done and dusted for 3 million for Solari I watched him play last night good player, but do we really need another midfielder? Or will Gerrard be going the other way for 30mill plus?
This was from yesterday but it says today the deal is done.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is keen on signing Real Madrid ace Santiago Solari, claim newspaper reports today.

The 28-year-old Argentinian midfielder is out of contract in the summer and he's yet to agree a new deal with the Spanish giants. Real executives have told the player that they want him to stay at the Bernabeu and he claims he's happy where he is.

Manchester United were close to signing the player in the summer.

i just mentioned that in another thread cisse, but not half as elequently as you. solari would be a good buy for us i say, and could add something to the game.

i gotta agree tho, we do seem to be buying from madrid now and hopefully in january again with morientez and tehy do want stevie G but its up to him if he wants to go, nothing madrid can do to change his mind if he is happy with us

After watching real last night I couldnt blame anyone for wanting to join them to be honest. Even though I dont want him to go I cant see us keeping hold of him.
Thing is tho when owen scored looked like a lonely soul didnt run to the crowd an no team mates congratulated him, big diffrence from his anfield days :)
And sorry dawson if you already posted this topic my mistake :D

nah, u psoted betetri think owen didnt reaslly cheer was because it was at the end of a major thrashing.
hes been cheered on when its been an important goal.
the stevie g thing i just do not know. no idea if he'll stay or go. he must see that we are improving so theres no need to go if he wants success in my opinion but we'll just have to wait and see.
as for real madrid, they can look awesome but u hae to look at the side.
Figo, Zidane and carlos are close to retirement. raul and ronaldo are shadows of their former selves.
Who knows what the future holds

If Solari is out of contract next summer then only a fool would pay Madrid £3m for him in January.

If he is a winger we could probably use him.

after watching the scum against Newcastle yesterday - they will be throwing the hat into the ring for any midfielder thats on the market
they are ****** in midfield now - was quite funny on the radio last night
even scum fans were phoning in complaining about the Portugal Prat on his ****** all the time

we don't need anymore midfielders
we need a centre back & a striker
worry about replacing Stevie if & when he goes

It still shouldn't matter Cisse as Solari himself is the boss in January and he can give Real the finger about his transfer fee. If Real look for too much he can sign a pre-contract agreement with another club, sit on his contract and walk for free in 6 months.

Its basically Solari's choice, although it may suit him to move early to another club in January provided the fee is minimal. Paying £3m to a club for a player with 6 months left on his contract is criminal.

People complained about the price we got for Owen but £8m plus Nunez was a good price for a guy with only 10 months left on his contract.

Agree with you JBG !
I think what a lot of people got hung up about with Owen was only a few years ago - after the goal against Argentina - the press were talking in the realms of £60m - alls people could see was the clock ticking & Owen de-valueing, and him not putting pen to paper

He could have easily done a McManaman though - so in that respect, your correct, we did reasonably well out the deal

Is this Solari any good then ? I know he's at Madrid, but there a degrees of Madrid (ie A team, B team, C Team etc) ???

If he comes and gerrards stays poor IGOR will never get a game, unless Hamman is going? Plus the midfield is not a problem area for us unless he can can play on the wing, but what about Nunez?
Oh I dont know anymore, we need 2 strikers and 2 defenders. end of story.
But probably Rafa had his eye on on Solari whilst he was managing over there.
