He's 29 but he's on fire.....

02-03.....Deportivo La Corogne 29 Goals, 38 Games (Top Scorer)

03-04.....Bayern Munich  23 Goals, 32 Games

04-05.....Bayern Munich  4 Goals, 6 Games

(1997 - 1999) he was at Tenerife?  (link to Rafa)

I wonder if he would fancy a run in the Premiership?

Do you rate him?

Exactly, the guy is sh@t hot.

Who knows, maybe he fancies a run in the Premiership?

Bring Hargreaves with him for company!

I know Chelsea offered a barrel load for him, but he decided to stay at Bayern.

You don't ask, you don't get!

Even though he approaching 30, he would still cost a lot.

Roy Makaay

The ongoing story of Roy Rudolphus Anton Makaay and Bayern Munich begins nearly a year before the prolific Dutch ace finally arrived to play for the club. On 18 September 2002, he single-handedly stunned the German giants with a hat-trick for Deportivo La Coruna in the Spaniards' crushing 3-2 Champions League victory at the Olympic stadium. Bayern kept a very close eye on the striker's movements from that day on and landed their man the following summer for a club record transfer fee. Makaay immediately set about repaying the investment, scoring an astonishing 31 goals in Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League matches in his first term. "There's no secret," the modest, model pro declares, "it's what I do."

I couldnt believe it when Deportivo offloaded Maakay, and even more flabbergasted when no big team came in for him.

Bayern may be big in Germany, but they're not up there with Chelsea and RM and the Italians when it comes to spending money on new players.

He's a hard worker and deadly in front of goal. Nothing fancy like Baros and Cisse. He'd give us something a bit different.

But I really hope we land Morientes

unlilely i think, Bayern payed like 18 million euro and with his form for them would'nt be willing to offload him for nay less than £15-20 million i reckon.
Great player though and I think he is the sort of player we want, good in the air and strong and powerful, while still being decent with the ball at his feet.

A guy like Makaay or Morientes is the sort of guy who I think we should look to sign come January, or maybe in the off season depending on funds availabe for transfers.

When he wanted to leave Deportivo, I though we had a serious chance to sign him, but some on this forum think otherwise and slag me off.
Do you think he and Baros look a bit similar (I am not talking about playing style :) ), very much like Rush-Aldridge combo...

Some League Goals to games stats for you
Morientes is a goal every 2.5 games
Makaay is a goal every 2 games
For comparison
Owen is one every 1.8
Shearer is one every 1.9

So makaay looks more prolific!
But is this all just paper talk??
Probably
