Posted: Fri Oct 22, 2004 9:27 pmI think a move for Duff is a possibility next summer as Chelsea somehow don't rate him as much as other clubs, and I have a feeling Robben (an inferior player) will be used more and more when he returns from injury. I think Duff won't stand for being on the sidelines and Chelsea might entertain a bid of around 12m for him.

I think that is harsh to call Robben an inferior player. He looks like a class act and was also chased by Man Utd.
On what basis can you call him an inferior player?

Robben is good, with lots of pace, balance and skill, but lacks brains. I can't believe some people said he had a great Euro 2004, when he was absolutely dreadful against Sweden.
A good coach could improve Robben's game, but at the moment his development would be a good deal behind that of Damien Duff.

I agree we should look at him but the reason for raising that point was to try and consider the value of players. It seems the only way to value them is to relate it to other players and what clubs have paid.
