Rafael Benitez claims Pongolle will be given opportunities at Anfield providing he knuckles down and plays well when called upon. Pongolle recently said he wanted to quit Liverpool after becoming frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities.

"If he plays at the same level he did against Deportivo then he will get a chance.
"He played very well in the ten minutes at the end of the game.
" When you change a player during the game you want to see something different and Sinama-Pongolle played very well.
"He is quick and can dribble and does different things.

Does he deserve more regular matches in liverpool jersey?

Shouldn't be allowed to go until we have settled our strike options.
Looks as though he could be around for a while !!

agreed, he is still young and has a lot to learn. I would rather see him to Cisse though, who does not look like a good player.

I would be tempted to drop Cisse and give Pongolle a few games. This would benefit both Pongolle who would a chance to impress and Cisse will be able to look at the team from the outside and maybe pick up a few things.

Pongolle, is more of a natural replacement for Baros, in style and positional type of play.

Its my guess that Cisse will look in astonishment as the liner flags him offside whilst sitting on the bench  :)

He cost us £3M.

How many starts has he made, I just wondered what his hourly rate was?

Bye-Bye FSP

I personally think Pongolle has potential to become a player if he can lose his petulant streak. He shouldn't be in infront of Cisse though. Cisse needs to play and play again to try and get him used to the pace of the thing and the required level of commitment. I think he's starting to show a glimmer of promise to be honest, despite my grave reservations about Houlliers final piece of transfer market buffoonary.
Sticking on topic, I'd probably keep Pongolle on balance. This dilemma though is always the case when you pay biggish money for pure, raw, potential. Clearly, Pongolle is still some way short of being the required standard to be considered a first team regular at the moment and the difficulty is, what do you do with him? Can't have him on loan forever and can't just leave him on the bench. Same goes for Le Tellec, another promising player but what do you do with him as well. Might have been an idea for someone to have considered this eventuality before we shelled out all the cash for 'em but there you go.  ???
