Scott parker anyone?

HOw involved has Scott Parker been at Chelsea this year? How likely does it look that he will be involved deep in the season?

Just curious, really, what Mourinho thinks of him.

I was just thinking about him the other day and thinking we'd have a chance with a January bid. Mourinho really doesn't seem to rate him (he only let him have a few minutes in the first game and then zilch - usually not even a sub!) He'd give us bite, dynamism and pace - why not at least have a try?

Scott Parker's diary, Weds 29th Sept..

The phone rings, it's Jose! Ukelele is injured and Frank Lampard has tweaked a nasal hair whilst shaving, he tells me that he's picked me for the team tonight against Porto! It's going to be live on telly and what's more I'm selected to play centre midfield and Sven and Tord are both going to be there watching! With Stevie Gerrard out injured it's my big chance to impress and I'm gonna grasp it with both hands! World Cup 2006 here I come! Then the alarm clock goes off, it's 8am - damn it was all a dream :-(

10am - I park my new Bentley motor at the Bridge, I'm not allowed to park it in the 1st team car park anymore, I'm in the muddy field at the back for the reserves I park next to their Escorts and Cortinas...

12am - I'm picked last again in the 11-a-side training match, I'll show them though, I'll play a blinder...

12.03am - Damn, Smertin has just arrived late, he's joined my team and I'm now on the bench...

2pm - Lunch time - I find myself last in the queue, but just as i'm about to get served, Makele arrives, pushes in and is served the last sausage. Chips it is then - good for my complexion though...

4pm - Jose calls a team selection meeting. Just before it begins, he calls out to me "Parker you're in"...my heart skips a beat..."my way lad, I can't get to the flip chart"...

4.30pm - I'm not in, but I think he's saving me - a Chelsea XI are playing a charity match against a Deaf School from Germany on Friday afternoon, he might need me for that and playing against German teams will be good practice for the next World Cup, I go the boot room to give my boots an extra polish. Didier Drogba walks in, he has such a good sense of humour, he pretends not to recognise me and asks me to give his boots a polish too...

6.00pm - I turn up to the stadium, but I've forgotten my pass "sorry son, you're in the wrong place" says the doorman at the player's entrance..."catering staff go through that door over there" - I decide to go home...

7.00pm - Arrive home...

8.00pm - What Not To Wear Is On - I pick up a few handy tips...

9.45pm - Flip over to Sky Sports, Chelsea have won 3-1...

9.46pm - I resign myself to a season in the stands...

11.00pm - Phone rings, apparently Cardoso Tiago is now playing centre midfield against the Deaf School on Friday, I'm not needed...

11.30pm - I cry myself to sleep, "Why oh why, did I leave Charlton??!!"

i think he's a really good player and would fit nicely at liverpool as he has a lot of aggression as well as ability. the thing is i think we'd be flooding the midfield with talent.
we need to strengthen in other areas, buying midfield players at the moment (unless its a winger) is pointless to me.

we need to strengthen elsewhere, and due to lack of funds, cannot really afford luxuries in other areas.
i do think he would fit the bill though

i always thought we were gonna go for im before chelski did. i agree he would be a good buy at the moment, esp. with stevie on the sidelines. i cant see him getting that much this year tho when our team is all fit, so maybe charlton would be best for the lad

i don't think it's as ludicrous as it sounds. gerrard will not be a liverpool player come the 2006 world cup (it hurts but it's the reality of football) so i see parker as a great replacement, especially with hamann being off at the end of the season aswell.

lol @ 4 pm line

Yeah i see the point about long term strategy though  i think the short term priority has to be centre of defence and im not sure there is enough money to round

Agreed on the 4pm line, top-notch. :D :D On the question of Parker, I used to have a pub where half the punters were season ticket holders at Charlton. I've seen him play quite a few times and really rate him. he was their best player by a counry mile and its no surprise they want him back. the point about Gerrard moving on is totally fair and sensible. At around 5-6 mill he would be a sound purchase in my view.

what's wrong with that? ???

the fact is, gerrard's got his mandatory injury for the season, hamann is getting on and can't be expected to play all the games, and diao and biscan just aren't good enough.

getting parker in would be shrewd business in my view.

i think maybe you're right when you see those prospects for the next 2 years (hamann bein old and gerrard bein...gone).

i suppose i was thinkin more what would happen short term. with hamann gerrard and alonso, he wouldnt be gettin a game. but with the aforementioned points, it would be good as he'd be blooded by the time he was to take over one of the positions. thats the way man u have been doin it.

(apologies to all readers for the swearword in the last bit)

by the great one
he would be a great player but how much would he cost he didn't even make the bench on wednesday and i dnt think gerrard will leave so everythink looks good. apart from vicente bein injuryed i aint seen him play in la liga yet its bein all real madrid  and vicente has signed a new deal but like duff he has a get out claause.

I do not think Scott Parker is good enough for Liverpool. If we are going to compete with the likes of Chelsea we do not need to be buying guys that dont fit their bill. He was a good player at a small club, who has made little or no impression on the bigger stage. I would leave well alone.

Parker is a reasonable player, but at the moment I cannot see a role for him at Liverpool. Perhaps if there was a clear out of the likes of Diao and Biscan in the summer, and Hamman going back to Germany, he would be an extremely useful back up to Alonso and Gerrard.

As St.Michael says, there's no guarantee we'll have Gerrard forever, although I wouldn't be too sure of Parker as a long term replacement.

I think Parker is a decent player, but he always reminded me of a more polished and turbo charged version of Mark Kinsella, his predecessor in the Charlton team.
