Ominously, Diouf has now been given a squad number.

It always seemed unlikely to me that a team such as Bolton would be able to match his wages, so it makes complete sense to hang onto him as the fourth striker. He'd only sit out the remainder of his contract anyway, so if Owen does end up going, it makes sense to use the funds to strengthen the rest of the squad.

It's also interesting to see that no.'s 12,13,14 are being kept free... is this a sign of more new faces?? Now that my friends is how to create idle speculation

To be honest, I can only think of a handful of games when he was played as a striker. Seeing as though people always say "give him half a dozen games to get match fit" whenever Owen's coming back from injury, I wouldn't be against seeing him get a run in the side. We forked out so much for him, it'd be madness if he went without giving him a chance in the position he was signed for.
Incidentally, there are quite a few numbers without players, not just 12-14. I wonder...

Look at the way biscan responded when given a run in his fav position. Diouf might be able to do the same thing.
If Owen goes, the cash should be used to strengthen the midfield (right & centre) and defence (centre) first. So that leaves not enough money for striker. So it makes sense to stick with diouf.

I thought Diao was gone on for a loan somewhere.....to Birmingham or something but he still in our squad??? Well, I guess its because I couldn't keep track of all the moment...
Anyway, so who is wearing 12,13 and 14 this year? Does anyone know which number Alonso and Garcia wear now?
