Despite being top scorer in euro 04 and landing himself in the UEFA team of the tournament, Milan Baros is unsure of whether he'll get his place in the Liverpool line-up next season.
Competition is stiff for places up front with the arrival of Cisse and Michael Owen set to sign a 2 year extension to his contract and Baros will ask manager Rafa Benitez if he'll get his chance next season. Baros said:

"First I am going to have a holiday and then I have to speak to the boss. It is a big squad at Liverpool and I like the club and I really like the fans too but I want to play."

"That's the most important thing. We will see what happens but I don't want to speak about it anymore."

I am making a plee to Benitez to give Baros a chance next season and to pick his front line based on form and not reputation. If this means dropping one of the other 2 then so be it!

His comments to Czech TV seem to indicate he'd be happy to go. There is also a veiled threat in his earlier comments about being the starting Striker

Quote

'When I get back to Liverpool on the 19th of July and I definitely want to play with Mr. Benitez but I have to speak with him and he will tell me whether he is counting on me or not. Then we will see what happens.

Obviously we all hope he stays

He will play and provide a different dimension in attack with Cisse.

We cannot rely on the reputable but predictable strike force. With Heskey out, Baros must be made available in more matches. Beni must rotate the 3 strikers with certain matches.

Baros and Cisse will prove to be the better strike force. :)

Good headache for rafa if he needs something to prove.  Good for us too to see whether he can get thru with the best decision. Nothing to lose in having too many quality players.

Whilst I applaud Milans showing in the Euro Championships, (and thank him for top scoring as I was on the lad at 50-1) I just hope that this Real and Barcelona reported interest goes to his head, and he gets a bit too big for his boots.

At the end of the day, Milan is an excellent prospect and will I am sure be very good in due course, but he does have a lot of work to do.

I think Baros is on his way because there is also reports that RB is after Mista from Valencia.

Read the article put up by anfieldadorer in the news and articles section and it seems that O'Leary is ready to put a 3m bid for Baros. 3 mill f*cking cheeky b*stard.

I would like Baros to get a run in the team. Maybe we should go for a 433 formation. Bolster up the defence and the play, Diouf, Gerrard, Kewell in midfield and Baros, Owen, Cisse up front. Call me suicidal but at least we should score more than we conceed. Well so Kevin Keegan tells us.

it would be a hell of a game to watch as well but Dioff come on surely we have some one a little more cappable in midfield than him.

Yeh your right, would have preffered to have Davids on the left and moved Kewell to the right but we have'nt got Davids so picked Diouf as the most attacking m idfioelder out of the rest that we do have. :;):

I'm thinking more like 4-3-1-2

Dudek
               Finnan      Carra       Hyppia    Riise
                         Gerrard    Hamann      Kewell
                                       Baros
                              Owen            Cisse

Looks a little light weight in defense and midfield. If we can get ayala and ruben baraja (great goal scoring midfielder) for carra and hamann respectively, the team will look unstoppable.

But i think rafa likes to play with 1 striker supported by 2 strong wingers so he might be willing to let baros go.
